Re: [bc-ultrarunning] Western States 100-mile Run - 2003 Canuck Performances and Happy Canada Day!

We all missed you out there Ean. The course is sure beautiful, unfortunately
the only time I really took in the sites is when I stopped to pee. I enjoyed
running in the hot sunshine (for a change), and the support on the course is
first class. I had the same old problem with my big toes, so something has
to be done if I want to run another of these long ones. Once the toes were
shot (downhill into the first canon), I thought my race was over. I suffered
to Michigan Bluff where my sandals were waiting. I had no idea if the
sandals would work but they did. I was able to continue although the quads
were very sore from compensating for the toes. I finished as well as I did
because of Dave Cressman (my pacer), so I am very thankful for having him
there. I think this race requires a lot more training than I imagined, but
what a great experience.
Andy
