BCUTS standings updated after race #5, KKNSTR   Message List

The latest BC Ultra Trailrunning Series points standings have been posted at
http://www.bcuts.ca, after another spectacular Knee Knackering North Shore Trail
Run.

What made this year's KKNSTR so special? It was the 20th anniversary race,
making it one of - if not, THE - oldest trail run in Canada. It is definitely
one of the toughest races around, but still attracts a huge amount of first-time
trailrunners and ultramarathoners, and has been at maximum capacity since its
very early years.

Huge kudos are due to the various race directors and race committee members who
have participated over the years to make this gem of an event what it is, and we
should all be grateful for thier efforts. Thanks to all the organisers, and
especially to Enzo "The Godfather" Federico and Shane Collins who came up with
the original idea and the subsequent energy to turn it into a race for the rest
of us.

For this year's run, it was a fascinating irony to have Peter Findlay be
victorious over the field again, considering that he won the very first KKNSTR
official race in 1990! Ironic perhaps, but not too surprising considering the
talent of this fine runner.

For more information on the race's history, check out the various postings from
past race directors at http://kneeknacker.blogspot.com

Congratulations to all this year's KKNSTR runners, and thanks to the race for
being part of the BC Ultra Trailrunning Series for the past eight years as well!

I hope you are looking forward to the next Series event in Squamish, the STORMY
50-mile and 100-mile trail runs. If you aren't racing, please consider
volunteering at the event to help your fellow runners and RD's out!

regards,

Bruce
BCUTS Series Director
