Announcing the 2008 BC Ultra Trailrunning Series!   Message List

Hello fellow trailrunners -

The BC Ultra Trailrunning Series (BCUTS) is back again in 2008 for its eighth
year! It is exciting to have the series going in order to promote the trail
races in our fabulous province and to provide encouragement for new and veteran
athletes to get out and not only experience some if the best terrain out there,
but to have a chance for some great draw prizes just for showing up, and series
awards for those who race consistently and accrue valuable points.

We again have seven events on the calendar, and this year are including the
100-mile category at the STORMY race as well. Every competitor in all the ultra
(50km+) events are automatically entered in the Series, and there is no signup
or entry fee to be a part of it. All you have to do is show up, have fun, and
run your best! Points are awarded based on age group results for men and women,
and if you complete at least three races of any distance in the series, you are
in contention for the overall series awards generously provided by our sponsors
Nathan Sports and EDGE energy drink. Please see the BCUTS web site at
www.bcuts.ca for more info on how you can get points and qualify for awards.

New this year! In recognition of the hardcore runners out there who complete ALL
seven races, Nathan Sports is providing an HPL001 bag worth $275 for the top
three "slammers" with the fastest overall finish times. Times are compared for
races of the same distance, with priority given for longer distances in
multi-event races like Elk/Beaver and STORMY: 100 miles gets credit over 50
miles, 50 miles gets credit over 50km, etc. To the toughest go the spoils - will
that be you? All you have to do is enter....

Once again, we will be having CarbBoom energy gels out on the race courses again
to give you the boost you need to run hard. Additionally, several races will
feature EDGE energy drink, a new Canadian product, for the athletes as well.

Please check out the BCUTS web site for all the info on the series and links to
the individual race sites. I hope to see many of you out on the trails for
another great year of running across BC.

cheers,
Bruce Grant
Series Director
