15th Annual Vancouver Fat Ass 50
A run in and around Vancouver, BC followed by a brisk swim, brunch and brews
Never done an 'ultra', but always wanted to? Resolving to get off your butt
and be a little more active in 2008 but don't know where to start?
Join me for a loosely-organized New Year's Day running classic. Run 1K or
run 100K on this 50K out-and-back course. Yes, it will likely rain and you
will get the nice new running shoes your Mama gave you for Christmas all
muddy. (80% trails, 20% paved.) Yes, you will likely get lost in the woods
in a city of 2 million, so bring bus fare and a cell phone so you can rescue
yourself and get to the finisher party before the free beer is all gone.
The run is free if you're a member of Club Fat Ass and cheap if you're not
already a Club member. Details at:

Important Note: This was always intended to be an intimate little affair
with a handful of crazy friends. The number of crazy friends seems to grow
every year. I will cap the number of participants at 100 this year and 67
have already registered. This means the event will likely fill by the start
of December... if you are planning to join me, please register soon!

May all of your New Year's Resolutions come true!

PS Free Resolution Tracker. Last year Club Fat Ass let me provide a New
Years Running Resolutions tracker on the website and I'm happy to announce
its back for 2008. Log your New Years running resolutions online where the
world can see them so you will be more inclined to achieve them. Check up on
what your buddies are planning. Anyone with a list of races they want to
accomplish or personal bests they want to achieve can use the Resolution
Tracker. The Club has offered prizes for people who come the closest to
achieving their resolutions, so tell your friends:

Q: Is there a 'Skinny Ass' this year? (As in, "Can I run less than 50k?")
A: Sure... get your skinny ass out there. See the FAQs for measured

Q: Is there a 'Fat Ass Duathlon' this year? (As in, "Can I get official
credit for a swim in the ocean afterward?")
A: You bet... in fact, it's expected that you will do a polar bear swim in

Betcha can't beat that!

The good folks at the Mosquito Creek Grill are open to loud, obnoxious
runners and their friends. Sorry, no kids. Draw prizes for runners and
crew who show up. Did I mention there's a free beer for registered runners
and crew?
