Hello runners!
The BCUTS web site had been updated with the latest Series standings after race
#4, the Scorched Sole in Kelowna.
The Scorched Sole 50k certainly lived up to its name, frying the runners with
mid-30's temperatures. Congratulations to Vernon runner Tracy Garneau, who
burned up the trail to win the race outright!
Race Director Shirlee Ross and her executive team did another exceptional job in
organising a fantastic event. Despite the heat, runners were treated with
enthusastic volunteers, and plentiful aid stations to rehydrate and get a boost
from some CarbBoom gels. The race gives the Okanagan runners a wonderful venue
to get onto the trails, and is a perfect opportunity for other athletes in the
province to visit Kelowna. The Scorched Sole is a welcome addition to the
Series!
BCUTS has three races left in the summer to rack up some points and contend for
some of the great series prizes from Nathan and Montrail. The Knee Knackering
North Shore Trail Run is filled to capacity, but STORMY in Squamish will let you
try the 50-mile distance, and Walk In the Park in Kamloops will challenge you as
one of the tougher 50k runs on the schedule. The entries for both events are up
on their respective web sites - see www.bcuts.ca for the links.
See you on the trails!
