World Run Canadian Route   Message List

Hello!

Thank you to all who have either expressed an interest in helping or
interest in learning about the World Run attempt (www.worldrun.org).

Jesper has asked me to help him with his route from Vancouver to Niagara
Falls, so I would like to propose the enclosed plan. The days may vary
slightly, but they shouldn't be off more than 1 or 2 days in either
direction.

Many of you are wondering how to help Jesper along the way, so please take a
look at this proposed itinerary to see if you or someone you know may be
able to help.

Support of the world run comes in many forms. Sometimes it is meeting Jesper
along the way and at the end of his day providing a shower, hot meal, a cozy
bad and a ride back the next day to where you picked him up from. Sometimes
it is by running with him for a portion of the trip. Peter Rietveld (from
Holland) ran from Vancouver to Calgary with Jesper, and that was a fantastic
experience for both of them. Calgary was fantastic for Jesper as many people
provided car support so he didn't have to push his stroller all day long.
Car support means staying with Jesper for the entire days run and leap
frogging ahead to wait for him with food and drink.

The World Run is made possible by Jesper's sponsors, so he would welcome all
media opportunities to promote the run, thereby giving them the most
exposure and appreciation possible. If anyone has media contacts in Regina
(May 24), Winnipeg (June 4), Thunder Bay (June 19), Sault Ste. Marie (July
4), Sudbury (July 11) or Toronto (July 19-20), please put me in touch with
them to coordinate some exposure.

If you see an opportunity on this schedule to help in any of these ways,
please contact me at kevin@... and we will arrange the
details.

For those unable to help with direct support or media contacts, other ways
people have helped has been to pay a night for Jesper's motel room or
campsite. If any of you would like to do that, please contact me to work out
the details.

Those of you on the BC Ultrarunning list may not receive the schedule
attachment, but Ean Jackson has offered to post the entire route on the Club
FatAss website, so look for that shortly, or contact me directly to have it
emailed to you.

This will all be over very soon as the schedule has Jesper reaching Niagara
Falls on Friday, July 22. Jesper's birthday is on Saturday, July 2nd for
anyone interested in doing something special in the Montreal River to
Pancake Bay area (just north of Sault Ste. Marie).

So far, Jesper has been incredibly inspired from the support that Canadians
have provided. He's in the last stretch of a very long journey, and
inspiration is priceless at this stage. I hope that we can rally together to
help him in his quest to become the first person to Run Around the World!

Cheers,

Kevin Thomson
