This is my second try posting here hope this one works. I am sending this note to different lists where riders may be interested. Sorry if you get it more than once. Feel free to post elsewhere.
On Saturday July 11th come do a free 200km (~125mile) Mixed Terrain challenging ride, La Ruta Loca Randonee (LRLR), that loosely follows Brevet event rules. We will start from the San Francisco Marina Safeway at 6:00 am. Brevet what? well a brevet is a long distance recreational ride (not a race) that is timed, the time allocated for a 200k event is 13.5 hrs.
The difference here is this event covers both paved and off-road sections (about 60%-40%) LRLR 200k has about 15k of climbing most of it on fireroads. We start at the Marina Safeway and ride to Muir Woods via the Marin Headlands then climb to Pantoll Ranger Station using Deer Park, continue to Lake Lagunitas mostly on Mt Tam fireroads, connect to Bolinas/Fairfax rd, down to Alpine Dam, up to Bolinas Ridge down to Hwy 1 via Randall Trail, pay a visit to Mike @ Black Mountain Cycles in Point Reyes Station to get proof of passage, ride back to Fairfax and Larkspur using the regular bike route, before Camino Alto turn left and do the full Paradise Loop, at Mill Valley keep towards Mt Tam, up to Railroad Grade, West Point Inn, down to Pantoll Ranger Station, connect to the Marin Headlands via panoramic Hwy, get to Miwok Stables and continue on the fireroads to Conzelman, down to the San Francisco side of the GG Bridge and you are done. Sounds like fun? There are Controls where you should prove you where there by either getting a receipt, signature/stamp or write some obvious thing about the Control location. This is not an official brevet nor there is any fee to participate, just a bunch of riders doing a fun ride, you ride at your onw risk.. At the end of the ride you hand me the card and I'll post a cute results page with links to your eventual blog posts/writeups (if any)
More details here: http://bike.duque.net/invite-
If you can please let me know if you are planning on riding it so I can approximate the number of cards (where you'll write the Controls answers/time) I need to print. In the above location I will be posting the FINAL cue sheet, that YOU'll need to print and bring.
