Shooting Tip: Traveling with Guns
After my recent fiasco with loosing my guns overseas, I thought I'd
give you a few tips about traveling with guns.
1. Always have an updated list of serial numbers and values updated.
2. Make a list of the contents and their value in your bags to
include:
a. Magazines
b. Belt, holster, mag pouches, etc.
b. Scopes
c. Gear
d. Safety equipment
c. Other things of value
4. Make sure you list what modifications were done to each firearms
and the cost. Keep all reciepts.
3. Change your Homeowners insurance policy to include your firearms.
It's not really expensive and it is definitely worth it.
4. Check the airline policy for how to pack and travel with
firearms. Also look into their lost luggage policy before you go.
5. Mail your ammo to the match before hand if possible. This will
lighten your weight on your bags.
Although I got my guns back, I ended up loosing a few scopes and
things. It's a pain to claim on insurance if you don't know exactly
what was lost and it's value. Do yourself a favor and be prepared
before it happens to you!
Hope these tips help. Be Safe.
Matt
