(Hailong Shen in the previous tournament)

Are you ready?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqP8kdqmES4

The deadline is tomorrow. If you still want to enter without paying the late fee, turn in your entries! Here is the entry form.
http://www.milpitas-tabletennis.com/ICC_Tournament/Dec2009/entryformv3.htm

The tournament will feature:
  • Free food for all players
  • Award banquet for top two finishers for all events
  • Live web streaming for selected matches (Open Singles final for sure)
  • Free two-night accommodation for out-of-town over 2450 players (limited number of rooms)

Four events have sold out. As of today, we've received 195 entries. Most likely will break 200 - a record setting in the ICC tournament history.

We manage to expand the capacity a little bit but still some of the entries won't get their spots. (First come first serve) We will send out a notice after Wednesday. You can either:
  • choose other events, or
  • get refund for the events you don't get, or
  • donate to ICC.:-)

Here is the entries received. Please verify if you get the right events. Let us know ASAP if there is an error.

Bookmark this page for the tournament result. We'll have a near live update throughout the tournament.

Last Friday's Team Competition was a blast.  Again, we had a 7 vs 7 match and this time we played full length best of 5 matches.  It last 4 hours so we finished it at midnight.  The score was up and down between Team A and B through all night.  Up till game 47 Team B was leading 24:23.  Game 48 was the match between 2 captains Leland and Lu. After 5 games tough fight, Lu got the winning point for Team B.

Team A: Leland(Captain), Bob, Mark, Krish, Chiping, Anson, Nathaniel
Team B: Lu(Captain), Andrew, Sammy, Don, Vekata, Peter, Hung-Jen

This Wed the competition will start at 7 pm,  We have many sign-ups already so please send me your request ASAP.

As for Friday's competition, we will only have it if there are enough sign-ups by this Wed evening.  We will have it start at 6:30 pm.  Please sign up with me now so I can get a accurate headcount.

Thanks,

I think it was Larry Hodge's article in the latest issue of USATT magazine that clinched it... :-)  Wait 'til they see the webcast of the upcoming ICC tournament.  Rajul is taking table tennis in the USA to new heights...

My heartiest congratulations to Rajul, once again.  He truly deserves it...

Fri 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm for player level 1600-2000

Fee: To participate team competition, free for Ping Pong Dojo members, non-members $6.
Cash prize pool $5 each person.  Winning team gets to share all the cash prize.
Why playing team competiion at Ping Pong Dojo?
Everytime you go in a club, you may end up with 2 situations.
Firstly you cannot find any player to play with because you don't know anybody there.
Sencondly you play with same group of players all the time because you know them so well.  We basically solve both problems for you plus you play in a more serious atmosphere that would definitely help you improve your match. Another benefit that you will not find at any other club is our coaches are on the side to help you give you coaching tips as your request.  Please do not feel shy to ask for the help.

Here is the rating result for Ping Pong Dojo Kids after Concord Youth Cup. Great improvement by Daniel.  After 2 months of training at Dojo, his improvement is huge, up by 327pts.  Hannah keeps moving up very quickly, she's up for more than 1200 pts for past year.  Way to go, Hannah!  Kevin also did a great job at age of 9 and only started taking private training for 6 months.  I remembered he defeated a 900 player but the result is not showing that, not sure why?  First tournament for Matthew, 8-year-old, with 6 months of training, 383 rating for very first tournament is actually awsome.

The U1950 event is limited to 32 entries since we will need to rearrange the court for the Open event. As of last night, there were 28 entries already. I'm sure it will be sold out by the deadline. If you want to play the event, turn in your entry early. First come first serve.

Next time we could use a doubles match as a tie breaker.  So the last 4 players get to play doubles to break the stalemate.

Can you believe that?  After 36 matches, 2 teams ended in a draw 18:18 last night!!!

We had

Team A: Brett Jackson(Captain) , Jim Tebelskis, Long Nguyen, Jason Guo, Chih-Liang Chen, Karen Xu

Team B: Carlos Deiguez(Captain) , Ray Weng, Jun Feng, Jain Yang, Lawrence Loh, Guang Wang

Team B was leading most of time during the night.  Team A sometimes caught up as a tie but never had a chance to surpass Team B.  Till game 34, team B was still up by 2 games.  Captain of Team A, Brett, won the 35th game made the whole competition so exciting.  In 36th game, Chih-Liang, Team A, led 1:0, Jain, Team B, got the 2nd game.  Team 3 was deadly tied till 7:7.  Chih-Liang took the win by 11:9 and won the 4th to win 3:1.

2 team captains did a great job to pick members.  They did ensure that would be a fair friendly competition.  Thank you, captains.

We still have some spots opening for Friday player level 1600-2000 comp. If you would like to join, please send me a mail to hungjen@pingpongdoj o.com.

Again, to participate for Ping Pong Dojo members is free. For non-member, it’s $6 drop-in.  Everyone needs to chip in $5 to cash prize pool and winning team gets to share all the money. From last night’s experience, maybe we should set if it is a tie, the club gets the money.  J

Ping Pong Dojo open play membership is only $180/year, no initialization fee.  You get free open play + free team completion + free table tennis clinic from 3 coaches.  What a bargain for only $3.46/week!
