Nice clip guys:
I can't wait to see the longer stuff. How did the sticks work for you? They look
pretty well made from what I can see on the video. Please tell me that you used
the light brown bamboo as opposed to the dyed green stuff. They are no good for
grappling but as you can see, a guy can kinda let go and let the other guy have
good one if you so choose. They should just bend enough to take the bone
breaking power out of them and no more.
Once you make the longer ones you will never go back.
FWIW
My favorite length is 45 inches

First to Kirk and everyone who knew him. I am very sorry to
hear about Mark's passing.
Hi everyone, I've been off of here for a while. I finally made my escape from
truck driving :-) those 80-90hr work weeks didn't leave much time for stick
fighting.
Anyway I started getting back into it a few months ago and have found a training
partner (Maarten) he is teaching me sanda and I have been teaching him my
version of bata (Based mostly on Ken's version with a few variations). Maarten,
my son Tom and myself are the CB Lansing for the time being, but we are hoping
for more.
Here is a clip from last weeks sparring matches, as I think you'll see Maarten
has picked up very quickly on stick fighting and I'm still rusty as hell :-)
(I'm the guy in long shorts and a white T-shirt). We are using the last 2 of my
MSP style compo's, We are planning to build more soon (some 4 footers as well as
some 42 inch. Maarten edited the vid and added music for some entertainment
value, there is also one point at which he slows it down so you get a good look
at me taking a missed head shot to the shoulder ;-)

Next week we are hoping to get some more vid, some with Tom and some
using a lower guard similar to the MSP stuff for a high vs low comparison.
Enjoy.
