Yeah, I got an email from them this morning explaing why, I will
paste it below. Its kind of funny, actually.
To our Sports Mogul Customers -
As you are no doubt aware, Sports Mogul has been hit with a network
outage.
On Monday, August 26 around 5:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, Sprint
erroneously canceled the Sports Mogul T-1 Internet connection,
causing the
circuits to be released by both Sprint and Verizon.
Now, more than 30 hours later, the connection is still down, and
Sprint is
being very evasive when we demand to know when it will be back up.
We are
having hourly calls with Sprint in an effort to keep their feet to
the fire,
and hopefully this will help to speed the process.
Because of the long duration of the outage, we wanted to let you know
what
is being done to fix the problem, and what will happen when we get
back
online.
Currently all the Baseball Mogul Online simulations are paused. When
the
T-1 is restored, we will go to our backups, and we will restore all
the
online leagues to their original state as of 9 a.m. Monday morning.
This
way you will not miss out on any key games or important free agent
bidding.
When the connection is restored, we will send out an alert email to
you and
to all of our BBMO customers. Then, one hour later, we will un-pause
the
simulations so play can resume (assuming that the connection is
re-established during normal simulation hours).
We will also credit your BBMO account with a 200% guarantee -- we
will give
you credit for twice as long as our system has been down. Currently
we have
been down for part of two business days, so we will move everyone's
next
billing date back by four days. If the outage goes on longer (knock
on
wood) we will increase the credit accordingly.
As an interim solution, we have created a special forum on Yahoo.com
where
we will be posting service updates. You can also post questions
there if
you have an issue to ask about. Because our Internet connection is
down we
will only be able to check it periodically, but at least we will have
a line
of communication. You can reach this forum at the following URL:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sportsmogulonlinestatus
We would like to apologize sincerely for any inconvenience this has
caused
you. We know how much our game players enjoy Baseball Mogul Online,
and we
always try hard to be responsive to their needs. Unfortunately, in
this
case, the problem is beyond our ability to fix as quickly as we would
like,
because we can move no faster than Verizon and Sprint, who caused the
problem in the first place.
Thank you very much for your patience and support as we resolve this
difficult service outage.
Sincerely,
Clay Dreslough, James Grove, and Ian Smith
