Baseball has a large, but dwindling number of people who watch and support the game. For many young people, perhaps it can even be said, most young people, baseball lacks action. Baseball has become uninteresting and mentally lacks stimulation. The rules are simple and the players mostly stand around waiting for something to happen. Baseball is at a critical stage in it's life to either change, or disappear.
Although the present version of baseball is boring. Baseball has an established infrastructure including playing fields, equipment, some natural training of kids, many software versions to leverage development of new versions of play, a following by many tv and radio networks, and sponsors already funding major, minor, and little leagues. Why not capitalize on those assets and create a new version of baseball?
The new version could use the same facilities and equipment and be played whenever "Baseball version Zero" was not being played. With a growing following of spectators, "Baseball version New" could supercede popularity and support of the original version. Remember, this is an open forum of ideas, so there could actually be many versions of games played using the same facilities. Different versions might be rated by play intensity, complexity of play, inherent danger, ...
