I ran the files through my loader shell, and it looks like everything works fine. No changes needed.

Consider this beta, but I have released files for the 2009 season on baseball-databank. org.
I'm not sure I understand the problem. The player_id in the bdb is not
the same as the player_id on b-r.com. Indeed, there is a b-r.com id in
the Master table. I presume if you look there, it might resolve whatever
issue you are seeing?

The batting table does not include games for the pitcher when there was a dh. It is only when they appear in the lineup that they get a batting game played. The appearances table is the place to look for games played.

Any chance we could get doubles and triples allowed by pitchers in the 2009
release?
Is that information being stored for pitchers?
Thanks, Sean!

Sean,
Do you really need to wait :-). When I was putting together the 2009 Retrosheet release last week, I toyed with the idea of simply pre-announcing that Mauer and Pujols were the 2009 MVPs. I eventually decided not to (figuring we could end up embarrassed if a majority of the AL award voters came from Detroit), but it was something I did consider.

FWIW, the voter whose first-place MVP vote went to Cabrera was from
Seattle, not Detroit.

Coincidentally enough I have an article slated to run in THT tomorrow that discusses how to use the Baseball Databank. Would you have a problem with me saying that the latest update is expected soon after the awards voting is finished?

PlayerID smithch07 is I think supposed to be CHUCK Smith, who played for the Marlins, not CHRIS Smith? Or maybe I'm confused!
From: Wells Oliver <wells@...> To: baseball-databank@yahoogroups.com Sent: Sun, November 8, 2009 5:11:38 PM Subject: [baseball-databank] Obscure error in the CSV exports for 11/21/2008 release?
This also exists in the MySQL version. Maybe I'm misreading things, but... there's a player with playerID smithch07 in the Master table, Chris Smith. The Master table lists his playerID as smithch07 and his bbrefID as smithch08. But then, in the Appearances table, his record is tied with the playerID of smithch08 when it should be smithch07. This record in the Appearances table is for the 2008 Red Sox, for whom Smith did play.

MLB.com codes *are* MLBAM codes. Sometimes you hear "Elias player ID",
but those are different.
