Hi Carol:
I have used Old Mac boots. They dont come off when you ride, they
have an insert to use if you need it. They look a little bulky, but
our horse got used to them in about 5 minutes, and she trucks with
them on. You can get them for all four feet, they are built with
the natural point for back feet. They have a great bottom, for
traction, and have been used by a lot of people up here in our
barefoot group.

I use Boa Boot with gaiter inserts. They'er easy to put on tighten. Iuse boots because my girl needs to traveel through town streets (glass) and up county...
