This is a special note to you organizers out there, hoping you can spread the
word about this hat tourney to your various mailing lists and listserves out
there. It'd be much appreciated. I've attached both a press release (if you have
local ulti
press contacts) and the more fun and interesting letter (more for the ultimate
bunch), as well as pasted the letter into the text here at the end. Let me know
with any questions/ideas.

Thanks much much much in advance, guys - really appreciated. Sorry for the short
notice - as this is only a week and a half away hopefully you can get this right
out in the next days and maybe even talk it up and pickup and such :)

All the best,

-Danji

Get Your Hats Out!
Announcing the Triumphant Return:
July 26, 2008, 10am, Rockland:

Hidcoast Mat: Volume IV!

After ten long, cold, and arduous months anxiously awaiting the return of that
Midcoast Ultimate Hat Tournament know as Hidcoast Mat, oh purveyors of the
beauty of disc, Volume IV is upon us!

A quick recap of last summer: Hidcoast Mat began last summer and had three
successful incarnations, Volumes I, II, and III. Approximately 80-100 players in
all from Massachusetts to Bar Harbor and all over central and southern Maine
represented!

About the tourney: a hat tournament is a sort of pickup tourney. Players of
absolutely every skill level are encouraged to come (And we mean absolutely
every skill level). Every brings a hat (extra ridiculous ones are appreciated)
and throws it in a
big bag. Hats are drawn from the bag to select the teams for the day. Play
proceeds in a round-robin format, with breaks for feeding barbecue style,
playing ridiculous ultimate games, and potentially also naps in the grass.
Remember hats must be
worn at all times during play. A hat that falls off mitigates a turnover at
Hidcoast Mat, unless caught by a team-member (heroic measure are encouraged to
save fallen hats). Much fun is had by all.

The discs will fly high on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 10am in Rockland. The
field (with at this point 98.4% probability – if this changes I will be in
touch) will be Kenniston Field, which is located on Old County Road in Rockland,
right next to the
old MBNA building, about a quarter mile south of the intersection of Old County
Road and Route 17 (googlemap: [ http://tinyurl.com/6ldvjo
]http://tinyurl.com/6ldvjo).

We'll be having a barbecue continuing the Hidcoast Mat tradition – a word to
that: we'll send around a hat (a cool one) at the beginning of the day and then
run out to get food supplies – so a few dollars for the barbecue fund from each
player would
be fantastic. No tourney fee! Just donations for the food. AND/OR if you have
any delicious veggies for the burgers or salads or wish to attempt making a
Soufflé, all these things would also be greatly appreciated.

Bring a (crazy) hat and a few bucks for the barbecue! Tell your friends! Tell
your neighbors! Tell your pets! Tell your friendly local convenience stores! Be
in touch with any questions! Let's make Hidcoast Mat Volume IV the biggest best
and
craziest yet!

And stay tuned and get geared up for Volume V in mid-August!

Yours in Disc,

-Danji (Buck-Moore)
