Indian team had a tremendous strategy in early 1980s that enabled them to win the World Cup 1983 from West Indies. Well, that dramatic win gave Indian cricket team a platform of recognition. When West Indies summed up India on a meager total of 183, then it seemed as if India has lost its chance. Though the team performed below average, still the bowlers showed their magic. Amaranth and Madan Lal walked away with 3 wickets each.

Kapil Dev was the captain of Indian cricket team in World Cup 1983. The way they managed their losing end, shows that Kapil Dev really knew the art of boosting the morale of his team mates. Apart from bowling, batting showed average performance. Amaranth scored 26 runs, Kris Srikkanth scored 38 and Sandeep Patil scored 27. Inspite of scoring a low total of 183, Indian team restricted West Indies to a mere score of 140 runs. It was really a day of jubilation not only for the Indian team, but also for the entire nation.

Is it possible for India to repeat that historical win in World Cup 2007? Well, every citizen is hoping that team should return home with the cup. Presently, Indian team has not been in its real form. They need to discover newer strategies to improve their game. And not to forget developing that fighting attitude also!
