Here is our "sister" organizations videos:

They do their kata similar but different than we do.

The nice thing is they use Heiko dachi or "combat stance" in their kata like we do.  Many of the shito-ryu ha only use zenkutsu, shiko and nekkoashi stances.

BTW: There is NO SUCH THING as a shito-ryu weapons kata. Mabuni Kenwa sensei trained and trained with TAIRA SHINKEN, the man who was in large part responsible for preserving the Okinawan Kobudo (weapons) tradition at a time when it was dying out.  However, there are NO OFFICIAL weapons kata in our system.

That is part of the reason why we have a separate organization and separate ranking for weapons training.

Have ALL of you filled out your applications to join the U.S. Kobudo Association?  Are you going to bring it on Saturday along with your dues checks?  That will go a long way towards making Hank and Sells Hanshi happy.

Hank

Isn't that neat?  I got this from a group I joined. Gotta get one for Doug.
