Our Head Instructor is Douglas Buchanan Bailey, Bailey’s Academy whose mission through martial arts values each individual and provides the opportunity for all individuals to lead full and productive lives: looking beyond disabilities, focusing on capabilities and expanding possibilities through the art of Karate.
Sensei Bailey has worked with disabled children with a broad spectrum of disorders including Autism, for over 17 years within the school systems of Oregon.
His 37 years of karate have given him the ability to implement this form of martial arts that have proven to be very beneficial in helping children with balance coordination, attention span, focus, motor planning skills, gross motor and sensory processing as well as building social skills and a strong self esteem and confidence that will prove beneficial in every day living


Our class teaches Shito-Ryu Karate on mondays and tuesdays,
& 18th Century Scottish Highland Broadsword tuesday evening after Karate.
Our Shito-Ryu Karate has an emphasis on learning effective striking & blocking skills, as well as movement, timing & overall physical fitness. Our Highland Broadsword work is based on the works of McBane (1799), Hope (1720), and Page (18th century). We also teach bo/quarterstaff, sai,boat oar, tonfa, jo/walking stick,and other weapon techniques to advanced students.

We meet Mondays and Tuesdays at the Oregon City United Methodist Church, 18955 S. South End Road, Oregon City, OR 97045. For those outside Oregon, Oregon City is in the southeastern section of the greater Portland metropolitan area.
