During this week of Thanksgiving, we'd like to say a special "Thank you" to all you have done to help build our ice sports programs in the last several years. Without a doubt, we've had our challenges but working together we've found a way to tackle them and move things forward. On behalf of all of our youth hockey players, figure skaters, and community members of Billings, thank you for making this happen. It is very much appreciated.
To keep you informed with some of the things going on around the league, here's a quick update:
GM / League Director Update
About a month ago, we notified you that Jeremy Sedilitz had submitted his resignation and that we were accepting applications for a new League Director. After further review of our situation, and an assessment of what needs to be done at the rink, the BAHL Board has decided to defer the hiring of a full-time GM to a future date, and instead will be posting for a Part-Time League Administrator (see Job description attached). We anticipate this role to work between 20-25 hours per week, and would like to have all interested applications submitted via email to BAHLBOARD@YAHOOGROUPS.COM by Monday, November 30th.
Sponsorship Activity
As a League, we have acquired a number of Corporate Sponsors through this season that we would like to recognize for their support of youth hockey:
AMP, Athletic, Medicine & Performance/Yellowstone Surgery Center
Cynergy Marketing
U.S. Bank
Wendy's
Bresnan Communications
Water Specialties
Jones Construction/Granite Door
Sir Speedy Printing
KULR 8
KTVQ
...and several more on the way!
We still have plenty of sponsorship opportunities available, with the chance to purchase dasherboard space for $2000, wall signage for $1000, and various other opportunties to get businesses recognition for their support of Billings Youth Hockey. If you bring in a sponsorship to the League, 35% of whatever net proceeds you raise will go directly to the team/age group of your choice to help offset costs associated with playing the sport! Any sponsorships should be directed to me at sodonnell@..., and we'll get them signed up!
We are also actively seeking someone to help us work on generating sponsorships and raising funds. We are prepared to commission someone to come in and work on behalf of the BAHL in this effort. Please contact us at BAHLBOARD@YAHOOGROUPS.COM with interest
Programs Update
While numbers are down both in the BAHL and across USA Hockey, there are plenty of reasons to be excited about our position. Our Treasure State League teams continue to perform at very competitive levels of play, and several of our house based programs are showing amazing numbers. Free IP has grown significantly since we started actively marketing the program, and our U15 house rec league is approaching 50 kids in that group. You may have also noticed an article in the Billings Gazette, and our television advertising that was done with the help of Cynergy Marketing, Bresnan, KULR and KTVQ. Any help you can provide to help our programs grow would be more than welcome!!
Our next Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 30th at 6p in the CIA board room for all of those who'd like to attend. Thanks to all, and have a great Thanksgiving!!!

the ice, get the kids some autographs, and get in a little exercise with the

All:
Some of you may have heard that Jeremy Seidlitz has submitted his resignation
to the board. We wanted to let you know that his formal resignation from the
League Director/GM position has been tendered, and a Special Board meeting has
been called for Monday at 5:30p to discuss next steps and a few ideas that
have been floated.
We will keep you up to date, and in the meantime Jeremy has agreed to remain
on the team until we can sort out how to best address the future.
Please do not hesitate to contact me at sodonnell@... with your
questions.
SOD
League Members,
We had to cancel all practices tonight because of the strong odor of ammonia.
We had some trouble with our water which caused one of our compressorers to over
heat and shutdown. When this happens, excess ammonia in the system backs up and
permeates through the building.
We have patched all of the problems and have our ammonia specialist to check
everything over tomorrow.
Best,
Jeremy

League Members and Figure Skaters, (only to you now)
As most of you are aware, I am going to Scotland for a vacation tomorrow—unfortunately due to some last minute travel hiccups, I will not return until the afternoon of September 29th. To ensure that we can organize a high quality event, we have decided to postpone Blades for Billings II to a yet undetermined date.
I apologize for the last minute changes, but the Board feels that this is an appropriate course of action to ensure a successful event.
Please let me know if you have any questions—best.

All of us who shop at Albertson’s have the opportunity to support the
BAHL. If you have a preferred card number, Albertson’s has a
program where a portion of your purchases will be donated back to the
League. Just yesterday, we received a check from Albertson’s for a
little more than $150.00.
Here are the instructions that I used to add my wife and I to the
list.
On the right third of the page, click the red, white & blue icon which
reads Community Partners. When you are redirected to the site,
please click the URL for Shoppers, the second one. You will then be
prompted to enter both the reward card number, and your telephone number.
Once you have entered these numbers you will see a menu on the upper right,
please click My Account. You will be prompted to enter the Community
Partner number which is: 49000117054 for the BAHL.
If you want, you can support up to 4 organizations, but I do not have the
numbers for any others in Billings. I think that this is a great way to
support our league, with a very low level of effort.
We have scheduled a Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching Clinic in
Billings the weekend of October 17th. In accordance with USA
Hockey rules, all coaches who are on the ice must possess the proper coaching
certification. You can register for these clinics on the USA Hockey
Website.
If you are interested, you can earn your Level 1 and a Level
2 this year—but then you can only go up one level per year. Also,
Sean is going to schedule a Level 3 clinic in Bozeman on November 7th
The Billings Bulls have scheduled two preseason games at
Centennial Ice Arena in September. The Bulls will take on the Bozeman
Icedogs on Saturday September 19th at 7:30 pm
The second game is slated for Sunday September, 26th
Billings when the Bulls take on Cody at 5:15pm—which is a second half of
a “home and home” where the Bulls skate in Cody on Saturday the 25th
at 7:30pm.
Tickets for both games will be offered at the discounted
rate of $5. Please come support hockey in Billings.
The Board has updated our association bylaws which can be
viewed at the following link. http://www.centennialicearena.net/id47.html.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
I have made arrangements with Scott Newpower to hold the annual referee clinic on Saturday, September 26th. All folks interested in refereeing this season must participate in a seminar to be eligible to officiate BAHL games.
The clinic is scheduled from 8:00a – 4:00p in our Board Room, with an on-ice component from 1:30p to 3:30p. Participants must register with USA Hockey for the appropriate level. If you are seeking a Level 1, you will receive a your rulebook and access to the online, open-book exam.
If memory serves, the clinicians split the group and schedule exams for those seeking their level 2 and beyond during the seminar. Please let me know if you have any questions.
League members,
The BAHL has partnered with the Billings Bulls to host a golf tourney fundraiser
on September 25th.
We have scheduled a shotgun start at the Peter Yegen golf course at 1pm on the
25th. Greens fees are $60 per person which includes a cart, and the winning
team (net score, sandbagging is marginally permitted...) will receive a refund
of entry fee as a prize.
Please dust the clubs off for one final round to support the BAHL. Please
contact Eddie LaPerra at 294-0406 to register.
Enjoy the long weekend!

Bill Freeman, whose son Caden will be a Squirt this coming season, was
in a motorcycle mishap early this week. He is currently at St V’s
with some broken bones and road rash, but overall is doing well. If
anyone would like to extend their well wishes, he is allowed visitors, but
would also welcome cards.
Bill had recently purchased an insulation business, and does not
currently have medical coverage. Since ICU can be a little spendy, an
account has been established at Stockman Bank for any who would like to help
Bill keep up with the Medical Bills. Deposits can be made at any Billings
Stockman branch. The account is under the name of Celeste Shepard and William J Freeman.
(Celeste is Bill’s mom).
Please keep the Freeman family in your thoughts while they recover!
