Mr. Yother didn't get his bio to the Arizona Thoroughbred Breeder's Association
in time for their Ballot mailing. I went looking for information on him and
found this sidebar in an online version of the AQHA magazine from last February.
It appears to give a good background on him for those who will be voting for the
new ATBA Board of Directors. I'm neither endorsing nor dissenting against Mr.
Yother. I just thought it would be good to share what I found.
Remember, ballots are due in the ATBA office no later than Monday, January 22nd.
Your vote does count. I spoke to one of last year's candidates and they were
told they lost by only three votes.

J. Lloyd Yother Honored by Arizona Department of Racing
J. Lloyd Yother has been given the 2005 Recognition of Excellence
Award by the Arizona Department of Racing. The president of the
Arizona Quarter Racing Association for the past five years and a
member of the AQRA Board of Directors since 1998, Yother has been active
in the state's American Quarter Horse racing industry for 20 years.
"This award is given to the person whose acts have enhanced the reputation
of horse racing and contributed to the professionalism and integrity of the
sport,"
said ADOR director Geoffrey Gonsher. "The person is a role model for all who are
associated with the industry.
"Lloyd is very passionate about the legislative and medication issues
related to racing in Arizona, and he was instrumental in getting the Second
Call horse adoption program approved," he added. "Under Lloyd's leadership,
the industry has received AQHA grading for all futurities and derbies
and more racing dates and better purses for Quarter Horses. Because of his
efforts, Arizona Quarter Horse racing is being recognized by other states
for the first time in recent history."
A resident of Carefree, Arizona, Yother is also currently the vice president
of the Arizona Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association.
