But will ESPN broadcast those games over here? My assumption has always been that they have a European channel and they don't necessarily broadcast that channel's programming stateside. But that's just an assumption based nothing more than my own cynical outlook on life.

ESPN has been watching what's going on and might jump on the opportunity according to some of the news and rumors flying around.

If they do then we do not have to rely solely on Fox for all the EPL games.
