Athens-to-Atlanta (a2a.net): The World's Greatest Roadskate

A2A is for road skaters of every flavor – fitness, recreational, speed skaters, inline or quad, pro and team skaters – A2A is the most anticipated event on the calendar of skaters the world over: Italy, San Diego, Germany, Korea, China, Boston, Sweden, Japan, Montreal, Colombia, Tahiti, The Skate Farm…the training season for the skating-year culminates in one of several distance events offered by A2A.

Speed skating is not required, but fun and a spirit of camaraderie are mandatory. In addition to the top world speed skaters, we regularly have some folks come in hours after the clock is turned off, and they get a standing ovation at the awards ceremony: for perseverance. That is the spirit of A2A.

Old friends gather Friday night to survey the skylines of mid- and downtown Atlanta, celebrate on Saturday with a fun-skate in downtown Athens, and tighten their laces at dawn on Sunday morning for the 7:30 departure for the skate to Piedmont Park in Atlanta - 87 miles away. Whether you plan to skate the 38 Mile Marathon-Plus, the 52.4 Mile Double Marathon, or the 87 Mile Ultra Marathon - you'll find extraordinary challenges, competition and friendships in every mile.
