Hey guys,
Several of you who aren't playing in the tournament have said you'll
help out next weekend. If that's you, please email me so we can figure
out exactly who we have and what each of you can do. There's plenty
to do and I'd like to get it arranged as early as possible.

Hey guys,
Work day this Saturday morning at 8pm at the Crucible. We got about
halfway last weekend, let's go get it finished! The grass is now cut
and looks really good. Let's make the rest of the course look just as
good.
If you will be there please let me know.

Hey guys,
Here's my to-do list for the Crucible. Most of this stuff is cosmetic,
we have very little mega cleanup, which means we have a chance to make
the course look really good this year!
----
Hole 1:
Bottom gap, trim back tree on Right.
Thin briars in tree on left.
Hole 2:
Cleanup main gap - dead branches
Near basket - light trim
Hole 3:
Tree on Right in bottom area needs work (cut it back!)
Right edge of tunnel needs work
Hole 4:
Trim Right edge of main tree from tee shot. We want to
widen that gap some.
Hole 5:
Right gap of tee shot needs light trim
Hole 6:
Main gap, get low stuff (preventative medicine, mainly)
Gap into woods - open it up
Hole 9:
Clean up gap. Possibly remove tree on Right at mouth.
Hole 10:
Left and Right gap need light trim.
Tree fell on wires (Already told park)
Might move basket left, which means might need some work
on green to accomodate new spot.
Hole 11:
Cleanup tree in center - remove low undergrowth-y limbs
Hole 13:
Open up flex gap (right side of left gap) some
Hole 14:
The usual work on the tunnel
Hole 15:
I didn't write anything down, but we probably need to give it
the once over and do some basic trimming.
Tee pad needs work.
Hole 16:
Improve tee pad
Touch up first gap
Hole 17:
Touch up trees on green.
Hole 18:
Work on my "visibility gap" is we have time
Hey guys,
We need to have a work day at the Crucible to get it ready for the
Flying Eye Open which is in 3 weeks (!). I'd like to have it this
Saturday, if possible. The football game is at 3:30, so if we start at
9 we should be able to get a lot done and still give everyone plenty
of time before the game.
Please let me know if you can make it this Saturday at 9am.

Hey guys,
If you have sponsorship discs to sell and don't have any active plans
to sell them somewhere PLEASE BRING THEM BACK TO ME!!!
I will be at Wednesday doubles, please make an effort to bring them!

The course will not be open for play prior to the tournament. We will, however, need to do some course clean up and set up during the week prior to the tournament. If there is any chance that you will be able to help prepare the course, I need you to RSVP to me in the coming week, so I can get a list of names to Carly. If your name is not on that list then you will not be covered by insurance, and therefore you will be ineligible to volunteer at the Crucible, prior to the tournament.
So, please email me or Doug if you are willing to help, otherwise you will not be allowed on Cook's property (The Crucible) until tournament day, October 25.
Thank you

Hey guys,
The Madison Mays memorial disc golf day is next weekend (Sunday
October 5), it would be great to get a lot of you out there. I can't
be there as UGA is hosting a rugby tournament all weekend (which I
also encourage you to come watch, we have 3 fields going sat and sun).
But I think it may also be a great day to get out there and let
everyone know about the Flying Eye Open. These are the sort of people
we want to come out on Sunday and watch the pros at the Flying Eye. We
can also sell some discs at the Madison Mays, I bet.
I encourage you all to go, several of you have plenty of discs to
sell, if you're planning on going out please let me know!

Attention Madison fans and disc golf aficionados:
The second annual tourney is next *Sunday October 5, 1PM-6PM*. Will you *please
forward the attached registration* form to your extensive e-mail list and
ask everyone to forward it as well!
We could use a little volunteer help on putting together some snacks. Bee
Natural will foot the drinks, Hunter and I are also gathering up some fun
prizes again.
We are hoping to have close to the 155 that signed up for last year, but we
are a little behind with preregistered folks so far, with about 30 (last
year we had about 50 signed up by the night before) 100 signed up last
minute! It really helps in planning to have some idea of how many will be
there.
You do not have to be present to be a part of it. (Phantom Golfer)
$20 dollar registration - 100% of that goes to the Scholarship fund. And all
that sign up will get a commemorative disc frisbee. Snacks will be provided,
and there will be drawings for prizes during the event. "Phantom" golfers
will be eligible to win too, even though they are not present.
It is a fun day and not a super competitive event - not yet, anyway!
Please encourage everyone to sign up ahead of time.
Thanks, and if folks want to help out, please have them call me..and
remember to bring your folding chairs.
Thanks!

The UGA Rugby Team is having a fundraiser at the Five Points
Barberitos tonight from 4pm until 10pm. If you're hankering for a
burrito (or even if you're not) I encourage you to cruise by five
points and pick up a couple. There will be rugby guys there to make
sure you're holding the magic piece of paper that says, "Hey! I'm here

Hey guys,
If you have discs for the flying eye open to sell but aren't actively
trying to sell them (or have plans to actively sell them somewhere),
PLEASE get them back to me! I don't want to show up on tournament
weekend and have 50 discs given back to me.
We HAVE to sell these things, especially since our revenue from tee
signs will be down significantly without Pfeiffer.
I will be at doubles today, come play!

Possibly add a few "ghost holes" on the Par 5's by doing a "modified"
shotgun start where the "ghost hole" groups tee off 5-8 minutes before
the rest of the groups to stagger them into the middle of the hole by
the time the official start whistle blows.
Unique idea being the "modified" shotgun start.
I figure there are going to be some back ups any ways...

I will be out there work day-ing Saturday at 9.
I plan to do a single, solitary, hour's work.
I then plan to play 23 holes from the red.
Then I will go watch the US national team play rugby against the
European champions. We will probably lose but, well, I'll be yelling
at the TV nonetheless.
This is my day.

Is anyone interested in doing a short workday this Saturday followed
by a "23 from the reds" birdie fest with the #1 bag tag up for grabs?
If you are, let me know as I may be leaving town Friday night but if

Subject: Madison Mays Memorial Disc Golf Tournament
----------------- Original message text -----------------
Hello folks.
This is a (not so) short message to an incomplete list of last years MMMD
Tournament. I apologize for being so tardy with information from last year.
My computer fried two days after the Tournament, and with it went the emails
for all involved. Ultimately no info was lost, it has just remained in paper
format....waiting.
Hunter and I are loading up the e-mails again from the registration forms
but I wanted the news of this years event to at least begin circulating.
*October 05, Sunday is the date set for this year.*
We had 155 participants last year and raised $3300.00 for the Downtown
Falcons Scholarship fund. Ben Hildbrands of Tampa, Fla won the 13 and up
tourney and David Hildbrands (his allegedly younger brother) won the younger
challange.
That was a really good number of people for our level of experience in doing
something like this (which was zero at the time). Thanks so much to everyone
that helped. We are going to root for more this year, which is one reason
we have put it on a Sunday afternoon. No UGA game.
Please sign up early, please forward this to everyone you know that might
want to participate, and please copy those e-mails to me at
jccutts@... and info@... to help assist in getting the
word out.
You may get duplicate notices from me until I hammer (peck) out the rest of
the e-mails.
We have 30 folks that pre-registered last year already signed up! (The
winner of the Wide screen 42 inch TV was Louis Jones!) I will e-mail the
list of early birds in the next few days, in case you forgot (or in case you
think you remember signing up but did not!).
There will be more details soon.
Of course I will be happy to have some volunteers, both in preperation and
on event day. Also, anyone (or business) that would like to help cover the
actual cost of the event (commemorative discs, Sandy Creek park 3$ per
person fee they cannot legally waive, etc.) please contact me for
sponsorship details.
Remember that 100% of the $20.00 donation to attend, play or be a "Phantom
Golfer" goes to the Downtown Falcons Madison Mays Memorial scholarship fund
and checks should be made out that way. IF you desire to assist in
defraying tha actual costs of the tournament, please specify that by making
a seperate check out to MMMDD Tournament. Contributions to both entities are
tax deductable.
Last year was really wonderful. I am thankful that Rachel and Tabby have
allowed us to remember Madison (and Allen too) in this fashion. I look
forward to seeing you all again this year.
PLEASE REMEMBER: forward this to folks you know were there, and folks that
might want to be there this year. There are a good many people that signed
up the day of the tourney last year that either did not enter their e-mail
addresses or they are illeg.. illegagib..I can't read them.. and please
COPY to me those you do send to..
Thanks
