Hey guys,
We could really use volunteers to be spotters for the pro tournament
this weekend. If you're interested in helping out for a round, or a
day, or the whole weekend, please let me know (or just show up on
Saturday).
Thanks!

Hey guys,
Michael Sperow, who helped out a lot when we cleared the Crucible back
in the day (and built the bridges on #7 and #8) is coming into town
this Thursday or Friday to film the Flying Eye Open.
He's looking for a place to stay:
---
I am leaving today, should be in Athens either late Thursday or early
Friday. I plan on being out at the course all day Friday to check out
good camera positions, and play some golf too. Also I wanted to ask if
there were any locals with couch space for either fri or sat night, or
even a backyard to set up a tent
---
If you can help him, let me know and I'll get you his contact info.
cheers,
doug
Hey guys,
John Whinery from the PDGA DiscGolfer magazine is wondering... (well,
what's below). If you can help him, please let him know (and me, so I
won't keep looking for someone).

Do you have anyone who may be able to take some pictures of the pro
event for the PDGA DiscGolfer magazine? If so please give them my
contact info so I can pass along some information that could save them
some time and get magazine quality images.

Hey guys,
We're going to put the pads and baskets out at the crucible on Tuesday
(tomorrow) afternoon. Probably looking to start around 1 or 2, but can
use help whenever you're available.
Call me 706-247-5255 to find out where we are and how you can help.
doug
Hey guys,
Since I got zero response for my workday email I'm shifting things. I
will be going out on Sunday afternoon / evening. I'm going to do a
little bit of trimming and also figure out what sorts of work we need
to be doing (missing a few next tee signs and the like).
If you're interested in coming out drop me an email.
doug
Howdy, all,
I'm interested in doing a work day on Saturday July 18th. Just some
little things...
One thing I'd really like to do is get benches on more of the holes.
Any ideas? If we can make 'em then we don't have to buy 'em (yeah,
insightful, I know).
doug
Hey guys,
Does anyone know enough about bikes (as in bicycles, no motor
involved) to show me how to tighten this and loosen that and then all
my gears will shift again?
I'd really like to get it working but not enough to take it to a shop.
doug
The new volunteer coordinator for the county called me about a work
day this Saturday. They have a few people interested in helping out.
I just saw Jamey's post that he'll be out there on Sunday, so maybe
that's a better day?
If you're available LET ME KNOW. If you have a preference for
Saturday or Sunday, let me know.
doug
Anyone interested in helping with some manual labor on my final
remaining trellis? I can pay pizza and beer. It's pretty easy stuff,
we have the big posts in already, we just have to drive in a bunch of
t-posts and then string up the wire.
On a related note, anyone interested in helping put up a fence? If you
share the great american desire to keep the deer the hell away from
your plants then this is a chance to fight the good fight! Payment is
the same as for the trellis (although the work is harder).
Dates and times are flexible...
Hey guys,
Lindsay works at the Humane Society and they are in urgent need of
people to foster dogs (cats, too, but the urgent need is for dogs). If
you're at all interested please contact her:
706-353-2287
or
Foster@...
I'm attaching her email with some details.
cheers,
doug
There are big changes going on at the Athens Area Humane Society. Starting in February 2009 we will begin pulling dogs from the Athens-Clarke County Animal Control and adopting them out from our Adoption Outreach Center at Pet Supplies Plus.
We are in the process of adding a dog room to our current adoption center which, once completed, will be used to house about five dogs at a time. But in order to make this happen we will need for each dog we pull to be fostered for at least two weeks prior to going over to the adoption center.
Foster
Parents are on the front lines of saving animals' lives. Each Foster
Family takes in a cat/dog, kitten/puppy, litter of kittens/puppies,
rabbit or small animal for a limited time (often 2-4 weeks) and
provides care until the animal can be returned to the shelter and
placed in the Adoption Program. During the busy summer months, the AAHS
will take in nearly 200 cats and kittens each month, which severely
taxes our small shelter. Foster Parents are needed to house the
overflow animals throughout this very challenging season.
Every
year, the AAHS takes in more than a thousand cats and small animals. It
is our goal to find homes for every healthy, adoptable pet, and our Foster Care Program is essential to acheiving this goal. You can be a part of the AAHS' lifesaving workby becoming a Foster Parent. Here's how:
Complete a Foster Care Application.
Attend a foster care orientation/training session.
After
orientation, we'll work with you to schedule an appointment for an AAHS
representative to come to your home for the required Department of
Agriculture inspection.
Bring home your first foster animal for some much needed TLC!
Download a Foster Care Application from our web site www.AthensHumaneSociety.org and email the completed form to Foster@... or fax to 1-888-694-9993. You can also drop your application by the shelter between 10am and 4pm any day except Wednesday.

Hey guys,
The park is having a disc golf work day at Sandy Creek Park this
Saturday at 9:30 AM. I will try to be there for a little bit but have
to leave pretty early because of rugby.
I would really like to have someone that can operate a chainsaw, if
possible, as there are chainsaw-worthy things to do.
Please come out and let's do some pre-spring cleaning! I'm hoping to
meet with Steve today to talk about the final 4 holes, so hopefully
we'll be able to start installing those in the near future.
doug
Hey guys,
I'm just checking to see where things stand as far as getting the
Crucible set up for the Georgia Super Six tournament on Feb 14th. A
couple of you answered that you'd like to help set things up.
If you can help me move some things this week please let me know, I
would have to do it on Tues/Wed/Thurs during the day. I leave town on
Friday at 11am and won't be back until Sunday night.
If several of you can do it without me that's fine, too, but please
step up and help! If we have several people help then it's easy to
do.

Hey guys,
On Feb 14th the 2009 Georgia Super Six Series starts at the Crucible.
If you're not already signed up, it's too late as it's full, but on
the course will be open on Friday the 13th for practice and on Sunday
the 15th for random draw doubles at noon (or individual play, should
you not want to play doubles with us).
But Keith Johnson, who runs the series, needs some local volunteer
help to get the course setup.
If you are available on Saturday Feb 7th (rain day is Sat Feb 8th) to
help him, please call Keith 305-720-8422 or email keith10444@...
Also, there are still a few sponsorship opportunities available, check
out the website:

Thanks!

On the off chance that someone reads their email tonight or early
tomorrow, I need a basket for the putting contest (NOT a Skill Shot).
SLO has my basket.
Jamey has a basket.
Rob has a basket.
Not sure who else.
If you can bring one, please do.
Is anyone willing to take charge of getting gatorade from Sam's club
that we can sell this weekend? If you are, please email or call me
and we'll get it worked out.
I will start collecting baskets to take to the crucible Tuesday
(tomorrow, y'all) at noon. I expect to get out there about 2pm. I can
use all the help I can get. Right now I've only heard from Jon Morgan
and he can't be there until after 4.
doug
Who can help setup the crucible on Tuesday? Time is flexible
depending on who can help and when...
We also have work to do on hole 15. Other than that, the course looks
pretty good.
Hey guys,
Several of you who aren't playing in the tournament have said you'll
help out next weekend. If that's you, please email me so we can figure
out exactly who we have and what each of you can do. There's plenty
to do and I'd like to get it arranged as early as possible.
cheers,
doug
Hey guys,
Work day this Saturday morning at 8pm at the Crucible. We got about
halfway last weekend, let's go get it finished! The grass is now cut
and looks really good. Let's make the rest of the course look just as
good.
If you will be there please let me know.
