I am still looking for currently registered UGA Students (undergrad/masters/Phd students are all eligible!) who are intrested in representing UGA at the first ever collegiate tournament. The cost is $10 which is basically the membership into the National College Disc Golf Union. I pasted the proposed schedule below. The course known as the Hippodrome will be played!!! (to me it is worth it for that alone)
I am not worrying about comprising a team of the best players, but of players who respect the sport and are in that perpetual groove with themselves of always trying to improve their game.
A total of 12 teams will play in the 'free' tournament on April 13-15. Schools already entered are:
Southern Cal
Michigan
Augusta State
Georgia Southern
East Georgia
U of Alabam
Now having played in Michigan quite a bit, that team is probably pretty darn good! Either way, let's represent the SEC and show 'em who's boss in the South!
Please contact me ASAP through the group if you are at all interested. It will be a sad day if I cannot find 3 serious disc golfers from a university with more than 30,000 students. So if you are not a student but know someone who is and would be great on the team, call them up and pass the word! This is a fantastic opportunity for the players and for establishing a Disc Golf Team for UGA!!! to compete into the future.
Format and Schedule
For the first year of the Championship, 4 players from each team will travel to Augusta. The preliminary schedule is this:
- Round One - Friday April 13 - Best Shot Doubles
- Round Two - Saturday April 14 - Alternate Shot Doubles
- Round Three - Sunday Morning April 15 - Medal Play - Rolling Start
- Round Four - Sunday Afternoon April 15 - Stadium Course Showcase Event
The champion will be the team with the lowest cumulative score.
Stay tuned for more as we continue to add to these pages.
Final schedule will be announced at the Team Meeting in Augusta.
