Re: Re: [athensdiscgolf] Open Letter to Athens Disc Golf community

You must not be paying attention to email, because in the last 5 months I have
been to 3 or 4 "offically scheduled workdays" and at least a couple of unoffical
workdays that I found out about via email. In the last month I have been out 2
times. I wonder if you even realize how much just one disc golf target costs
(especially the ones we have...roughly $375 each park has spent $10,125 on
targets alone). If you are wondering where your money is going, the park paid
for all of the baskets up front. And you know those wonderful concrete tee pads
that keep you from breaking your ankles, guess who paid to have 3 pads per hole
put in, yup you guessed it the park (ungodly amount of time and money?). If you
are concerned about money and if you play more than once a month you should buy
a pass for the park, and put in 15-20 hours of volunteer time and you get the
disc pass FREE. I am certainly not wanting to be mean or disrespectful here but
if this disc golf course was not here you would have to drive at least 30 min to
the nearest course and that would mean spending even more money on gas getting
there. NOTHING IN LIFE IS FREE! Everything I have said is to motivate, please
dont think this is hate mail and I am certianly not trying to start anything. I
love disc golf and everything about it, even working to expand the course. If
this email makes you mad, come out and take your anger out on some of the briars
or privit or even some posion ivy. One last thing, if you want to work and
there is not a time you can come let us know when you can come out and someone
will meet you there. Instead of doing nothing post a time on the website that
you can work, that goes for everyone that wants to help. Again forgive my
passion.

months. I wanted to come but prior engagements kept me from being there. Maybe
if you scheduled more work days it would offer more flexibilty for potential
volunteers. I believe this would alleviate part of the problem. Also, whenever
I have offered constructive critisizm to Carly, the volunteer coordinator, she
very rudely replies with something like "well why dont you get out here and do
it". First of all, I have to pay to get in the park as well as an extra dollar
to play disc golf but I am expected to get out there and complete the course.
Where does that money go? Certainly not towards completing the course.
Secondly, how am I supposed to come out there and volunteer my time and efforts
if there are no workdays scheduled?
