Well, what an odd first week at the Open.

I already lost two of my projected semi-finalists... but that is not the story.

Safina seems to struggle with each match, but she gets through.
She has heart, I'll give her that.

Is she #1 material? She'll have to at least make the finals for any legitimate
claim.

Where are the Williams? Well, still here of course.
Are they really the #1 and #2 players in the tour...
I don;t think so based on eratic play all year...
New meaning to one hit wonders ... not to take anything away from them.

But where are the real #4-8 players...??
Is there any clear challenge?
The week should have an interesting play-out.
