Your proposals would have several effects
Having 6 months off due to injury would be even more damaging than now - so
players would be under greater pressure to return to full time play when they
should be recuperating.
Under the current system it is possible to have a baby and return with some of
your points left - under your proposals the points you have left would be
devalued.
In deciding who goes to the season ending championships, winning the Australian
Open would not count for much compared with a player's results in the US Open.
I prefer the current system.
Remember that part of the reason for having a ranking system is to make it
advantageous for players to play in the many different tournaments during the
year. The current system does that.
