Greetings from Malibu, CA, where Pisani Training is camping out for the next
week and a half.
Back in action is former world number 39, Ashley Harkleroad. After giving
birth just 2 months ago to little Charles Adams the 4th, Ashley is back on
the court and in the gym, getting ready for team tennis and hopefully the
USOpen.
I have to be honest with you, she hasn't missed a beat when it comes to
hitting the ball. In fact, she could very well be hitting the ball even
better now.
The new racket from Prince, and the fact that Ashley has been carrying a 15
pound baby boy around, has helped her upper body get strong and there was
considerable pop on all of her shots today.
The main thing that I am going to do is to get all of her strength back,
increase her endurance, and get her moving again. Today I worked on some
on-court agility, more specifically linear movement, and then in the gym we
worked legs, core and forehand and serve explosiveness with dumbbell
strength training.
Using a series of exercises for each specific movement pattern will help her
recovery increase rapidly. I am making sure not to over do it with her.I can
here Lenny my coach whispering to me , "Less is More."
It will take some time, but I have known Ashley for a long time and I know
that her body changes quickly.
It will be fun to get her back in fighting shape and there is no doubt, her
best is yet to come. I love training professional athletes like Ashley.
It's fun going after the best of the best, and Ash is a great vehicle to
live vicariously through! Bionics.that is what it is all about!
