I do not want to criticise Ashley. Sometimes when a competitor
is young they are under their parents' thumb, and enabling
their parents to live out their dreams. Ashley no longer has
to do that.
She seems to being making choices that I would not have advised.
But that does not make them the wrong choices. Perhaps they
are better choices. I do not know.
I have not had a proper conversation with Ashley since 2001,
and I do not suppose I ever will again. She was a good junior,
and at 16 a really nice girl. Life moves on, and people change
- not always for the better.
