Where is the fight in our play?   Message List

i cannot hope for any 'real' success for arsenal if there is no real
and consistant fight for it. our rivals know this fact and will
continue to walk all over our midfield; and subsequently our defence
if we do not have a will to do something as fundamental as making an
effort to recover the ball.

when some arsenal players lose the ball in whatever circumstances
(eg. pires, reyes, cygan; and most recently in a particularly
disgusting fashion, gilberto_vs.Bolton), they do not make convincing
efforts to recover the ball an get on with play as if they really
want to win.

other players (eg. sissoko_LFC, essien_CFC, rooney_MUFC, parker_NCFC
or stelios_BWFC) are aggressive in play and make all efforts to get
that ball. even when they haven't lost possession they constantly
disturb their opponents! papa bouba diop doesn't just look-on
towards the referee while play continues! he sticks his foot in the
doorway! clearly we need a certain hunger and fight for the bloody
ball in our play, particularly the middle of the park. our midfield
needs to be rebuffed with an attitude that would be both frustrating
and problematic for whoever we play.

Is it possible that the problem lies with Wenger? Perhaps he's not instilling enough of the fight mentality into the players, rather he's perhaps leaving it to...

have to admit that our midfield has lost some bite since Vieira left. I was a strong advocate for his departure but I agree that the condition was to replace...
