Martin Jol believes his Tottenham side can finally put an end to
Arsenal's domination of north London derbies when the two teams do
battle again at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

Spurs last put one over on their fiercest rivals six years ago but
times are changing and Jol's side go into the game sitting in third
place in the Barclays Premiership - five places above Arsene
Wenger's side.

"1999 - that must have been the last time we beat Arsenal," said Jol.

"Was it 2-1 or something? Six years, but since then Arsenal have
been a top side and Wenger has done a very good job over there.

"I put that mildly, as Arsenal are one of the best teams over the
past decade, so Wenger must also be one of the best over the last
decade.

"But, the thing is that we are above them in the league now and
hopefully we can stay in that position."

Jol believes the game will enable everyone to see that his team's
place in the table is merited and was quick to point out that since
the turn of the year, they have lost just once at home - 2-0 to
champions Chelsea earlier this season.

"It's the only home game we have with them this year - hopefully we
won't get them in the FA Cup - so it's a good opportunity to show
everybody we are a bit better than last year.

"We shouldn't forget that since December last year we only lost at
home to Chelsea and that's a very good thing."

Meanwhile, Jol has praised Arsenal's stars for their hilarious
penalty disaster against Manchester City at Highbury.

Arsenal's Robert Pires and Thierry Henry became a laughing stock
when they tried to conjure up a clever spot-kick move.

Pires failed to roll the ball into the path of Henry and the chance
to score was gone in seconds as City's defenders sprinted into the
area to clear.

But rather than continue the humiliation of the pair, the Spurs
coach said he was impressed by their creativity.

"It was very creative thinking," he said. "But when you saw
Holland's Johan Cruyff do the same thing, and I saw it a thousand
times, he laid the ball off with the inside of the foot and not with
the studs.

"I thought it was very brave but the Manchester City players were
quicker than they were. That is one of the risks of doing that.
Cruyff did it differently - he laid if off and he laid it back and
they scored."

Jol does not believe any of his players would contemplate following
Arsenal's lead but if they did, he would only have a good laugh
about it once they won the game by a margin of two or three goals.

"I would have a good laugh and maybe a beer with them if it is two
or three nil. I don't think Arsenal will do it again because they
know that we know about it now."

Jol will be boosted by the news that Henry has just a 30% chance of
playing in the game while Spurs will be without the suspended Edgar
Davids in midfield.
