Hey guys ,with the 2004-2005 football season over, I
have compiled my ALL-STAR
team of the season. I have opted for the 4-4-2
formation with a diamond(or
probably more of an arrowhead) midfield. I have also
included my justification
for the players I have selected to be part of this
dream team:

GK:Gianluigi Buffon (Italy)
CB:Alessandro Nesta (Italy)
CB:John Terry (England)
LB:Roberto Carlos (Brazil)
RB:Lilian Thuram (France)
DH:Patrick Vieira (France)
LM:Pavel Nedved (Czech Republic)
RM:Ronaldinho (Brazil)
CM:Steven Gerrard (England)
CF:Thierry Henry (France)
CF:Andriy Shevchenko (Ukraine)

SUBSTITUTES:
GK:Dida (Brazil)
DF:Roberto Ayala (Argentina)
DF:Jamie Carragher (England)
MF:Frank Lampard (England)
MF:Kaka (Brazil)
FW:Wayne Rooney (England)

BUFFON-Without question the best goalkeeper in the
world at the moment.

NESTA-A world class defender.Though injury has been a
problem for him in recent
times ,its hard to overlook him.Any world class
defence wont be complete
without Italian influence.

TERRY-probably the most controversial selection in the
team.He has had a
remarkable season with Chelsea but still has to prove
his worth at
international stage with England.

R.CARLOS-With stamina that cannot be matched, this
attack minded wingback is hard
in defense and superb going forward.Having probably
the most gifted left foot
in the world he is a nightmare for any goalkeeper when
it comes to set pieces.

THURAM-The French powerhouse brings strength in
defense.His experience and
ability to switch to attack mode when required makes
him an ideal right back.

VIEIRA-Voted as the best midfielder in Europe by ESPN
last season .The French
captain's strength in midfield is too much to be
overlooked.His physical
approach to the game makes him suitable for a
defensive midfield player to
shelter the 2 central defenders.

NEDVED-Without the Czech Republic captain, his national
team and his club
(Juventus) wont be the same .His influence to a team
is depicted by the Czech
republic's world ranking which is second.

RONALDINHO-The 2004 world player of the year would be
part of anyone's dream
team.He is probaly at his best in the gap behind the
front two but his
versatility mean he can play anywhere in the midfield
or up front.

GERRARD-The Liverpool captain has had a magnificent
season.Winning the Champions
league is a huge achievement and he more than deserves
to be in this team.

HENRY-To many he is the best striker in the world.
Finishing as the top
goalscorer in the Premier League this season
illustrates his finishing
touch. But the two time Premier League player of the
season is more than a goal
scorer. His creativity and ability to carve out goal
scoring opportunities out
of nothing is what makes him a world class striker.

SHEVCHENKO-He is the best thing that has ever happened
to Ukrainian football.The
2004 European player of the is probably at peak at Ac
Milan and the
deteriorating form of other star strikers (namely
Ronaldo,Raul and Owen) gives
more than enough reason for Shevchenko to be part of
this team.

SUBSTITUTES

DIDA-The Brazilian giant is superb in all the areas of
goalkeeping.

AYALA-The finest defender in South America at the
moment.Makes up for his lack
of height with hard tackling.

CARRAGHER-He has been the toast of the much talked
about Liverpool defence this
season.Being a utility player means he covers for both
right back and the
centre back's position.

LAMPARD-Chelsea' top goal scorer this season has come
a long way since his days
at West Ham and he looks set to be Chelsea's brightest
star next season jut as
he had been this season.

KAKA-Brazil's most promising youngstar. His rise meant
fall for Rivaldo both at
AC Milan and from the Brazilian national squad. His
combination with Ronaldinho
in the Brazilian midfield may well be the feature of
Brazil in Germany next
year.

ROONEY-wayne Rooney has been the story of English
Premier League for the past
couple of seasons. He has also proven his worth at
international scene with a
superb outing for England at Euro 2004.

so what do u reckon???i'd love to hear from the
critics out there
