......I know some of them aren't great. Don't know how to put captions on them, so here's my description........  There's one of Anthony and Peter during the race briefing, half a shot of Dan (other half behind the guy in red and white) at the start, after the sprint, about to enter the track; one of Dave standing with bike after coming in from final lap; the couple of Matt: at end of race with "Wannaride" brand beer in hand; and coming into the finish after final lap.

Like to add a couple of things to Matt's race report....

The Track. I think it's the best I've ever ridden. Along with the flowing single track, there's the technicality of it. It's fantastic to ride a track that really challenges your technical mtb skills, along with giving you the good old adreno rush.

The riders. There were over 500 hundred of them. From the elite to the novice, the serious to the guys riding in tuxedos. All whom I encountered were relaxed, friendly, and having a good time.

The atmosphere and organisation. The guy on the microphone did a great job. He had a number of 'competitions' going for entertainment........ boggle, a skid comp, a best pash during transition comp, among others. There were results put up throughout the race, heaps of water on hand, free bike stuff given away, free bike mechanics, food, coffee, St Johns ambos etc. It was very well run.

The heat. It was Hot!!!! You can probably always drink enough to keep hydrated, but trying to keep cool while riding in 43 degrees was hard. Tipping water over your head didn't help as your water was hot. During my last two laps I felt as though I was concentrating mainly on getting back to transition without being sick- thanks Matt for going out and doing two laps in a row for me!..... while the heat didn't bother some too much, I saw a few others suffering who had to be packed with ice or put in a car  with the air con on for a couple of hours to cool them down. For me, the heat was the only negative. Everything else was fantastic. Would highly recommend this race for next year to any serious mountain biker.

For those interested, The 'solo male' was taken out by Craig Gordon with Jason English in Second. The 'solo female' was won by Katrin Van der Spiegel (spelling?). The results should be up on the wannaride website soon.

Cheers,
Jo

Well I'm sure I've said it before, but if you love riding on sweet, flowing single track, then make sure you get yourself down to the Wannaride Spring Fat Tyre Festival next year. The temperature was hot even at 8 o'clock in the morning so we new we were in for a hot day. The race started at 8:45 with $100 to the fastest sprinter up the hill. With the current and previous world champions lining up out the front there wasn't much point going for it. So after 200m of dirt road up to the start we settled ourselves in for 8 1/4 hours of fun. About 1/2 Km in I past Dan Nichol, who unfortunately had a flat tyre. After about 2k's everyone had sorted themselves out (fast guys were off and the unfit people were puffing on the side of the track wishing they took it a bit easier) and it was just fun single track after fun single track. The track was just over 10Km long and I think that 9.9Km was single track. The up hills were over in no time and the flowing down hills seemed to go for ever. Everyone I saw either past or was past with out any hassle or complaint and, despite the heat (it got up to 43 degrees and seamed to stay up there) everyone was having fun. By about 12:30 the race organisers decided to cut the race by two hours due to the heat, which everyone thought was a wise decision.

Myself and Jo entered the Mixed pairs and ended up coming forth after doing 10 laps. Dave Harris and Dan Nichol were part of a 3 man corporate team and came forth as well. I think they did 11 laps. Anthony Clark and Peter Maxwell  from Tamworth both rode solo, with Anthony doing 6 laps and Peter doing 7, and Richie Hardman from Moree also did 7 laps (there were a few other guys from the north west too, but not sure how they went). Everyone did amazingly well considering the heat.

Although no NEMTB riders ended up on the podium, We all pumped out some consistently fast laps and did the club proud. So well done to all who braved the heat and rode down there.

Hi Everybody

Just a quick reminder that there will be a two hour race on tomorrow, Sunday, 15th November at the Sport UNE track. This will be the last race for the year and possibly your best chance to see Trotter in a world of pain so make sure you get there.

See you then

Hi folks,

In case your thinking that your suspension is getting a little on the tired side you might like to try NS Racing Suspensions.

Pricing looks reasonable and this bloke is originally from Armidale, he’s been servicing suspension in the French Alps for the last few years so he should know what he’s doing!

Regards

Hi folks, just a reminder that there are a few of us that meet up at the piney Monday arvo at 5.30pm for a little light training.

We meet at the very north east corner of the piney at 5.30 or sometimes people meet at the front car park at about 5.15 before heading over.

A quick note for this arvos ride (if the weather holds out on us) the creek is up so you will have to ride up the road to the second gate if you want to ride out the back!

This is not an NEMTB event so its ride at your own risk etc.

If you keen give me a bell for directions.
