Hi Folks just a quick report on the
The race was held at Pine Creek and in short, it’s a great
track with some fantastic features, I was particularly fond of the log roll’s.
These are fallen logs about 5 metres long that take you across streams with up
to about 1.5 metres drop (into water below in some cases) and a tread width of
less than a foot!!! I did come off them several times but managed to avoid the
water.
The rest of the track is a mix of very twisty single track and
the occasional fast fire road.
They have some really competitive riders down there that
will blow the legs of most us up here so it’s a great competition.
Bamf was racing strongly (I think in the top 5) until he got
two flat tyres which saw him lose a fair bit of time. John boy was similarly going
alright until he snapped his seat post and spent the rest of the race riding
with his feet around his head mumbling something about the virtues of road
riding.
With some early race tactics the thinking mans rider Gareth
managed to edge out new club member Michael after our last club race which saw
Gareth beaten in a sprint. Phil, Steve Mair and myself all managed some solid
laps in there too.
If you get a chance to race down there or even go for a social
trundle its well worth your while.
