Well, after my dose of Ultimate KO's 3 and 4 I am kind of hyped for
the upcoming UFN. Lord knows why, no huge draw fights or
organization rocking fights. Lets break out the swami hat and see
what falls out.
UFC FIGHT NIGHT: AUGUST 17
No big deals here! In most of the fights the UFC has not put anything
at stake like a Liddell V silva fight or anything. If one guys wins
over another it does not make anything but headlines for the UFC and
makes fans chomp at the bit a little more in some cases.
-Karo Parisyan vs. Diego Sanchez
15/3Karo is the submission expert. He will either try and out last
you or make you tap out. 15/0 Diego started out his carreer trying to
make guys tap, but has turned to a GNP game that includes a dirty
take down and lots of elbows and fists. Both match up well, having
won against some good fighters Karo seems to have more big show
experience. Diego is an up an comer, as annoying as I think he is,
he has potential and youth on his side. Now the UFC looses nothing if
Karo wins this fight, they send Diego back for some more experience
and have another contender for the belt in a division soaking in
contenders. If Diego wins they get a new, young kid to bring to the
top as the next best thing in the next couple of years when guys like
GSP and Matt are ready for the easy chair.
I see Karo winning. Diegos hype can only last so long. I hope.
Realy I am not sure which I would like to see. A future guy coming
up and getting an ego slap or a guy that deserves a shot at the belt
who has been around a bit longer. I still Say Karo by some kind of
sub.
-Dean Lister vs. Yuki Sasaki
Sasaki seems to have a questionable record going into the fight. He
looses a lot by decision, but he is a submission guy for sure. This
should be a submission battle. Lister is a new guy to the MMA octagon
but He has fought 12 times and won 8, all by submission. This should
be good. Dean is game to pad his resume with another submission and
is looking good his last, and first UFC, time out. And Sasaki is
always game for a rolling game. The only way this one does not look
good is if they dry hump looking for a safe way to get a sub out of
the deal. I see Dean winning simply because the UFC wont put the
buggy man against a guy that can demolish him. Then again, they did
that accidentally to Mir. I still say Lister by sub in the first.
-Josh Koscheck vs. Jonathan Goulet
Jonathan has a good record right now and beat Luke Cummo in his last
outing in the UFC. He is a fighter with big hear and shy of the
Super human fast KO he received by Duane Ludwig he is one hell of a
tough fighter that works through sub attempts and can keep it on the
feet if he wants. He has a nice mix of win types with 6 by Ko and 7
by sub. He is well rounded and dispite a silly hair do he is capable
of pummeling or subbing a guy quick and effectively. Now Kos is on a
rip through the UFC he has one loss and four wins in the UFC right
now as well as two wins outside the UFC, one over Luke himself. He
put Dave Menna back out of the UFC when the vet came back and his
wrestling skills are fantastic. He brings a good take down that
Jonathan may not be able to counter and his GNP is good. He is not
as good a striker as Jon is and I see Jon tattooing Kos for the first
round. If Kos can get Jon down it may be to much for the Canadian(
said with Pride) to take. I hope Jon shuts down Kos and wins and
that is the way I am going.
-Chris Leben vs. Jorge Santiago
Straight off an embarrassing loss to A.Silva, Chirs is trying to
regain ground and get his exceptional momentum going again. He
stopped teaching at Team quest and really focused on training and I
was expecting more during the Silva fight, but it was not to be.
Chris is a GNP machine kind of like Randy and Tito, but with less
fines than Randy and more brawn than Tito. He is facing Jorge
Santiago, an American top team fighter who likes Subs. This is a
tailor made fight for Chris to get back on the winning side. He
loves to fight guys that are not leather throwers and push a new
glove imprint into them. I see Leben taking this one by GNP. I think
this may be the fight makers setting Leben up to retake his "next big
guy" position. Maybe for a Leben V Silva 2, heaven forbid.
-Joe Riggs vs. Jason Von Flue
In the what the hell were they thinking category, we see Big daddy
diesel facing Jason Von Flue. I see Riggs beating up on Jason for
two rounds and then killing him in the third. Jason has heart and
attitude, but I do not think that will help him out mass or power a
game Riggs. Unless Riggs walks into the arena a different person
than we have seen, he should take this via GNP very easily. Jason
has some skills, but he is facing a guy used to cutting weight, and
Jason always looks like a homeless guy that needs a burger or two
just to get to the level of emaciated. I see Riggs win this by walk
over and Von Flue, as much as I like the guy, does not have a hope of
making Riggs look bad. Even if God smiles on him, Von Flue has a
battle ahead of him.
-Sam Morgan 18/7 vs. Forrest Petz 11/2
Sammy morgan has a bad rep after his loss in TUF and Burkmans huge
slam that Ko'd him in the UFC, but he actually has fairly good record
outside the UFC. They call him the squeeze or some other silly name
that just makes him a bit less impressive and a bit more effeminate,
but he is not that bad. Now Petz is a hand picked guy to fight him.
With a great record of eleven wins and two losses this should be a
great fight, if not for the part were Sam passes out or is Ko'd. It
is almost already written in the books. His two visits to the octagon
have involved some sleep time for him and I don't see it going any
other way. Even if Forrest was picked to match strengths, Sammy has
to prove his glass jaw has been fixed.
-Anthony Torres vs. Pat Healy
Well, what do you know, another TUF'er that has not gone any were
fast. After the TUF series Anthony has only one fight, a win…but not
in the UFC. After the show he disappeared from the MMA scene and has
not been fighting MMA since. He only has three MMA fights, all of
which were wins. For a BJJ guy he likes to Ko guys and get a stop
out of the fight, strange for a human anaconda to want to throw
leather. Pat has a much longer resume for MMA with 24 fights and
most wins by sub. This should be a good fight for those that like
some real dirty grappling and subs with lots of leather being thrown.
I am seeing the new comer Pat as the winner in this case.
-Eddie Sanchez 6/4 vs. Jake O'Brien
Eddie has a weakness for getting subbed, all his losses were by sub.
He does like to throw leather and has some decent wins by TKO and
smash mouth. He is facing Jake O'Brien who is a big wrestler out of
Indiana. Jake likes to pound the pudding out of guys and his four
fights he has seen all his opponents pass out due to leather poison.
I see this as Eddies fight to loose. Jake seems to be one of those
tough kids that just likes to rough you up with no skills or
technique that would impress. I see this under card fight going to
Eddie by Tap out.
thanks nieko
