The summer season is just about over and we will now turn our
attention to the fall.  The plan is to have three events, two pool
meets and one open water swim.  Here is the breakdown:

*Fall Classic (October 19) in Flagstaff at NAU (SCM)
*Tribal 2.4 Mile Swim (November 9) at Tempe Town Lake (Open Water)
*Ron Johnson Invitational (November 15-16) at ASU (SCM)

As we get the events sanctioned, they will be posted here, on the
blog, on the website, and announced via email transmission.

What are your thoughts on having a series of pool meets that would
only have distance events? These would be held when no triathlons are
scheduled to encourage our USA-T brothers and sisters to swim at this
meet. This would enable all swimmers to gauge their level of
performance in distance events.

Here is the outline:

Short Course Yards

*One meet in January
*One meet in February
*Events would be 500/1000/1650 only

Long Course Meters

*One meet in July
*One meet in August
*Events would be 400/800/1500 only
*Held either early in the morning or at night

Short Course Meters

*One meet in November
*One meet in December
*Events would be 400/800/1500 only

All events would be USMS-sanctioned and use electronic timing. The
results would be posted just like any other meet. We would also offer
one-day USMS memberships for those triathletes who are not currently
registered.

There are teams at the Tucson JCC, Ford Aquatics, and Ventana Canyon.
  Those are the ones I know of off of the top of my head.  There may be
others at the local YMCAs but the three that I mentioned are active.

There will be more open water swims in Arizona in the future.  June
Hussey (she swims for Ventana Canyon) is our Open Water person and is
working on this.  Stay tuned...
