Stanford Women's Volleyball Tabbed Preseason No. 1
In USA Today/AVCA Coaches Poll
The Cardinal garner 54 first place votes to top the poll.

The defending national champion Stanford women's volleyball team was tabbed
No. 1 in the preseason USA Today/AVCA Division I Coaches poll which was
released today. Stanford garnered 54 first place votes.
Four Pac-10 schools are ranked in the top 25 including No. 3 USC, No. 6
Arizona and No. 11 UCLA. Washington State and Oregon State were among those
receiving votes.
The Cardinal won its unprecedented fifth NCAA National Championship in 2001,
ending the season with a 33-2 overall record. Stanford posted 3-0 wins over
Nebraska and Long Beach State to claim the crown.
The Cardinal open the 2002 season at the NACWAA/State Farm Classic, August
23 and 24 in Minneapolis, Minn. against No. 14 Northern Iowa.
