Greetings!
We just launched The Long Format Club, Inc. this weekend at the Coconino Summer
II H.T. during the T3DE in Flagstaff, AZ. We had a really positive response!
The Long Format Club is a nonprofit organization seeking donations to support
the long or classic format three-day event at the Training and Preliminary
levels.
The Long Format Club (LFC) was formed in the spring of 2009 to gather the grass
roots supporters of the Classic (or long) format equestrian three-day event into
one place where we can combine our voices and dollars into a meaningful
contribution to keep long format eventing alive. By pooling our resources and
serving as a conduit between supporters and event organizers, the Long Format
Club takes donations and distributes them to organizers who run Classic
three-day events at the Training or Preliminary levels to help defray the costs
of hosting these events. We help organizers meet expenses such as footing
preparation for steeplechase/roads and tracks phases, additional required
officials/clinicians, and steeplechase fences. Organizers send us their "wish
lists" and the LFC directors award funds as available to best meet the
organizers and Club's needs.
Our website is longformatclub.com. I've tried to announce the LFC where I
thought people would be interested so I also did a thread on COTH forums and a
Facebook group page. Thought I'd give a shout-out to the LFC here too.
Please join the FB group (if you do that sort of thing) and surf on over to the
website and consider donating to our cause! We have one time and recurring
monthly options. If you have any suggestions for the website, let me know! We
are getting LFC merchandise soon, but supporting our organizers comes first!
If you have any pictures, especially those emphasizing the jog, steeplechase,
roads & tracks, the 10 minute box, that you would like me to put up on the
website, send me those too (with credit info).
See, this is what happens when your three-day horse bows a tendon and is out for
a year. Don't let this happen to you!!! LOL
