That's good news about Appleton West, though I have trouble believing any good news when it comes to Ultimate in the valley. Wednesday night is still the best for me.
As for this weekend, I'll get in touch with two females and see if they're interested.

Hello all,
It's time to get the pick up games rolling again in Appleton. Why? Because we have a club team in the area from Appleton West High. They have a strong little group that could join up with us old farts/vets. I want to get this rolling. Badger State Games are this weekend and they are playing in their first tourney! What days work best, times, etc? I know we can get full games going again if we stick to a plan.
Speaking of that, my team at BSG will be Poop Dog and we can use another male and females to play if interested. BSG is in Neenah at Memorial Park next to the HS. That team will get going at 10am on Saturday. We have a first round bye! Let me know if you wanna play...

Hey all. I'll admit, the break from having to see you people on a weekly basis was nice, but it's time to get back to work.
(actually, i've been itching to play for a couple of weeks now)
So let's do it. I'm calling a game for Wednesday, June 17, at 6PM, at Westwood Elementary school in DePere. We've had several new players from Green Bay inquire about our game, so DePere seemed like the logical midway point. My car will definitely be making the trip, so anyone that wants to carpool from Appleton can call my cell (920-216-6085) or respond to this e-mail.
This map should get you to the right place. (note: We are a little hard to see from the road because we play behind the school.)

See you there,
Tony
This e-mail should've gone out several days ago, but I became engrossed in my
own stuff and let this relatively easy responsibility slide. Sorry about that.
We've had pretty mediocre numbers at Ultimate the last couple weeks. Therefore,
borrowing from the old theater tradition, "always leave 'em wanting more," games
are going to be a little more scarce this spring.
I'd still like to play once a week, but games will be called, rather than
assuming we'll have numbers. If Lawrence has several people that want to play,
someone will call a game. Likewise, if 12 of your relatives are in town for a
reunion and are going to get a game going, it'd be great if you would post that
game to this group so we can get our weekly Ultimate dose.
Another decision made recently by pick-up game attendees is to seek games in
other locations, and to pull players from a wider geographical area. Deebs
posted an invite to play at UWGB this week. In the future, someone may call a
game in DePere, so that Green Bay and Appleton players can get together, or we
may ask Oshkosh players to meet in Neenah. We know that people in the area want
to play. Hopefully, our newfound flexibility will result in more quality games,
and more people exposed to our sport.
I think that's all I had to say. Take it easy.
Tony
I want to extend the invite to everybody, there is going to be a pretty big pick
up game around UWGB tomorrow, and well the more the better. It will be starting
around 4:30 and will end when we don't have enough people to play. The game
will be at one of two locations on campus or a location at apartments next to
campus. If you need directions or anything like that just give me a call at
(920) 471-9111.
Hope to see you tomorrow,
Deebs
Starting this week, we'll be picking up on Wednesdays instead of Thursdays.
This seems to work better with some peoples' schedules and matches what we have
posted on the UPA website. People should arrive between 5:30 and 6 to warm up.
Game at 6 or as soon as sufficient people are ready to go.
As always, our first option is Noon Optimist Field, but we may end up between
the arboretum and the tennis courts if that field is taken. Hope to see
everyone there. Bring a light and dark shirt and some water.
Tony
Keep an eye to the sky, because rain is in the forecast. A small band of showers is predicted to stretch from Green Bay to Indianapolis tomorrow afternoon. There is a chance that it will vacate the area before 5 PM, or that it will miss us to the south, but strong winds are also predicted to persist for several hours afterwards.
So check the sky shortly before 5 PM. My hope is that the weather will be great, and everyone will come out and play. As always, bring a light and dark colored t-shirt and water.
thursday is my day off. that makes it the best choice for me..

I apologize if anyone missed the fact that we were on a different field than I said we would be on. That's my bad. This week, I will simply say look for the flying disks at Appleton Memorial Park and come join us.
Scotty raises a good point. We've always used the democratic process at the beginning of a season to see which day works best for people. The last few years, we've met on Wednesday, but Thursday is an option too.. So please let us know if you have a preference. One factor you may consider is that there is another game on Thursday in Menasha. For people that cannot be satisfied by playing 1 day a week, Wednesday may be the more appealing choice. Obviously, I'd prefer that only active members vote (I'm looking at you, Chicago!)
Take it easy, and see you on the field!

Hey guys and gals,
I have a problem this year with Thursdays. Would anybody else consider Tuesdays or Wednesdays to play! I'm just throwing it out there to see if a different day would be better for the whole group. And yes Tony was right...the Badger State Games will be right here in the Fox Cities this year. Speaking of that...I will need volunteer help too, but this is a perfect opportunity for us to grow our sport in OUR community! I can't wait to play more this summer since there are no new babies on the way in the Sawinski household. I hope all is well and I know I'm looking forward to shedding some of this gut.

Hey all,
My apologies if you receive this twice.
I hope your off-season was great, and that you're as excited as I am to lace up those cleats, find out which of your disks survived the long winter at the bottom of your closet, and come out to Appleton Memorial Park on Thursday (tomorrow). We'll be playing on the smaller field adjacent (to the west of) the tennis courts and at the bottom of the large hill. The Lawrence Girls team will already be practicing there when most of us arrive, but they've been kind enough to include us in their pickup game, so expect us to have good numbers. As always, bring a light and dark colored t-shirt and some water.
On a related note, the Badger State Games move to Neenah this year, and Appleton Ultimate member Scott Sawinski has taken over the very prestigious role of commissioner. I hope we can get a team together to represent the Fox Valley on our home turf, so keep June 27th and 28th open if you're interested.
So, to recap: Tomorrow, Appleton Memorial Park, bottom of the hill, 5:00 PM (or as soon as you can get there).
Thanks, Tony

Weatherman says the humidity will drop overnight. Should be a
beautiful (and comfortable) day to play Ultimate.
Also, if someone has cones, please bring them along.
Play ultimate tomorrow at Appleton Memorial Park.
In other news... my economic sanctions against the Girl Scouts of
America are gaining national attention. Come play to find out more!
Just wanted to send out some more feelers. We're always looking for
more players for the hat tourney, so if you're interested, drop me a
line. We won't close registration again unless we meet our player
cap. However if you aren't registered and I don't have you shirt size
by 3PM today, you'll may not get a shirt in your preferred size.

Hey all. A few of us are getting together tomorrow at 6 PM at the Fox
Valley Technical College field for some fun with a disk. It's not a
game, like on Wednesdays. It's more like a practice. We may toss, we
may drill, we may even run a little bit. Format hasn't been decided,
so come out and let us know where you want to improve.
The field is at Bluemound and Northland. If it doesn't sound like your
thing, no problem. We'll see you on Wednesday.
I was just about to mention the new FVO. Obviously for that one you
need to be part of a team, so talk to Scott.
The ManHat takes individual registrations and teams will be drawn
prior to the tournament. It's pretty low key, and we're constantly
working to try to line up goodies. The standard is official t-shirt
and disc (discraft ultra-star of course). We should have the free
window clings, and will have the raffle for goodies donated by VC
Ultimate (Ultimate DVDs, hats, membership cards). We're hoping Copp's
will donate water and bagels/bananas again, which was huge for us last
year.
So we're working in Manitowoc, all you guys need to do is sign up.
Details at http://www.mufc.us/tournament as Tony said. If you have
any questions or problems with the registration website, don't
hesitate to email me.

We had 5 on 5. All people from the Thursday night pickup
games (Green Isle park last week) and UWGB students. Fairly informal (used
an Aerobi disk, no stall count, modified box end zone, open sidelines…)
but fun. I was pretty beat. I won’t be around the next
several weeks. Check Facebook for updates regarding next week.
