Hi guys,
Here's an update from the meeting on Saturday. Some of you have been
contacted by phone, and some not yet. (By Gus or me.) If we missed
you, here's a summary of what's going on.
Gus and I both attended the meeting.
I think we WILL have a TV team. (say 90%).
We did NOT pay the deposit. We have to finalize our plans and pay
all the fees by 2/18.
In response to some feedback about reducing the age to 45+, the board
is looking at two options for this year (2006):
1. Split the 45+ division into two sub-divisions (A and B).
Younger/stronger teams in the A; older/weaker teams in the B.
Unbalanced schedule: maybe 4 games vs teams in division, and
2 vs other division.
2. Start a 55+ division this year.
We'd need a minimum of 4 teams.
They would grandfather previous players in the 55+ (so Randy and
Julian, for example, would be legal, but Steve Ashman would not.)
Regarding recruiting: The Yankees and Tigers are merging. Many of last
years Tigers (from 38+) are joining the Yankees. Some Yankees will be
looking for new homes. Gus and I plan to start recruiting as soon as
we can get the info from Steve Brye and Doc Bresnik.
More when I know more; don't give up hope yet. But this all does
have to shake down by 2/18. Meanwhile, be ready to sign waivers and pay
dues (est. $300) by 2/18. And if you have suggestions about players
to recruit, please send them to Gus and me.
