Hi guys,
The Norcal meeting is this Saturday, 12/3, in Fremont.
This is the annual meeting at which we set the schedule for next year.
As you all know, we were pretty short last year and had to cancel a
few of our games. But I did get a strong sentiment that you want to
keep the Norcal team viable.
I'd like it if each of you would send me an email with info about what
you'd like to have happen next year. Answer questions like:
How many games should we play?
How committed are you to making most of the games?
Are you willing to help recruit new players for the team?
Are you willing to help with the organization and management of the team?
Here's my personal response to these questions; don't take this as the
answer, these are just my views.
I'd like to reduce the number of weekends that I have commitments.
So I'd like to play no more than about 2 weekends per month. I'd
like to start in late March and finish before Labor Day. This
means only about 10 dates. If we have enough players and pitchers,
I like doing doubleheaders (two 7 inning games). This way, players
and pitchers can all get enough work, without having to play
every weekend. Assuming we have a Norcal team, I'm willing to make
those games my first commitment. (This will reduce the games I'm
available on the TriValley side.) I will help with recruiting for
the Norcal team, but my sources are pretty dry. I've used up most
of my sources recruiting for the TriValley team. I think we need more
young guys, so Brian, Eric, and Garrett really need to help get more
committed players. I would like some help with the organization and
management of the team. I will give up the field management to whoever
wants to pick it up. I'll delegate as much of the other stuff as I
can, assuming I get some volunteers.
So, guys, let me hear what you have to say.
Finally, Clyde would like to get 3 reps from each team to come to
the meeting on Saturday. So, if Brian, Eric, or Garrett (or anybody
else) want to volunteer, I'll send you all the details.
