Hi guys,

Klu beat me to the keyboard earlier today with the news that the
48 team is definitely on. Here's the rest of the story...

We plan to have 4 teams in the Roy Hobbs World Series this year:
one each in 48+, 55+, 60+, and Family Ties.

I'm doing the "General Manager" work for all 4 teams. What that
really means is that you should send your money to me. I will keep
track of players and other information by updating pages on the
Antiques website.

I have just published a page for each team at:
http://www.norcaloldtimers.org/antiques/pages/2006/RH48Info.html
http://www.norcaloldtimers.org/antiques/pages/2006/RH55Info.html
http://www.norcaloldtimers.org/antiques/pages/2006/RH60Info.html
http://www.norcaloldtimers.org/antiques/pages/2006/RHFTInfo.html

Quick summary:
48+ is the week of Sunday, 11/5 - Saturday, 11/11.
Family Ties is Saturday 11/11 - Wednesday, 11/15.
55+ and 60+ is Sunday, 11/12 - Saturday, 11/18.

For other information (What does it cost? Who is playing? What
uniforms? etc.) see the pages above.

If you're getting this message, you either played last year, or have
already indicated interest for this year, or are just on my radar
as somebody who might be interested. If you know of others who might
be interested, feel free to point them to the site, or have them
contact me. I'll put them on the distribution list.

Now for a couple of ads.... :-)

Family Ties was a blast last year, but we were real short on players.
We could use some Mosleys, Germanys, Bryes, Hinkles, Kenneys, Lopezes,
Rezzonicos, or Cerianis to complement the Browns, Joneses, and Dunleveys.
Remember, it happens at the end of the 48s and overlaps 55s and 60s.

Play "up". For those of you graduating to an older age bracket, I
encourage you to play with the older team. No problem playing with
the younger guys too. But if you're over 60, play with the 60's.
If you're over 55, play with the 55s. We all have the ego part that
says we can still play with the younger guys, but we often have the
best chance of winning a national championship when a group of
guys first turn over to the next age group. We've won a few regional
championships; it's about time we brought home a national trophy.
Having done that ad, if you can only make one week, and you want to
play "young", that's OK. Just let me know what you want to do.

Last but not least, you all should know that I HATE making outgoing
phone calls. My work schedule takes me into most evenings. I often
work out in the evening. That doesn't leave time to initiate calls.
So don't feel slighted because I didn't make a personal solicitation.
Notice the length of the "to" list above and you can see why I
prefer to do email and get to 40 guys at once.

It's just fine for you to call me. Put either my office number
650-917-7892 or my cell number 650-796-5923 in your book/pda/phone.
The office number rings twice on my land line and then forwards to my
cellphone. If I don't answer it goes to the cell's voicemail. You can
call those numbers any time; I turn the cell off, or hide it in my
garage office if I'm not available. Calling during work hours is fine
too. If I can't talk, I either let it run to voicemail or I'll let you
know that I'm in a meeting when you call.

So please let me know your status. Yes, no, and maybe are all good
answers. And check the pages above to see what others are thinking.

-Denny
