Dominik Hasek has been the best goalie ever in the relatively short
time he's played in the NHL. In the NHL, he has started for eight
years, this will be his ninth. In those eight years, he has collected
six Vezinas ( the award given to the best goaltender, voted on by the
GMs of the NHL.), two Hart trophies ( the award given to the leagues
most valuable player ) and one Lester.B.Pearson award. During this
time he has won numerous "player of the week" and "player of the
month" awards. His six Vezinas is second only to Jaqce Plantes 7, but
Plante played with the Montreal Canadians dynasty, at the time one of
the best teams in the league ( the NY yankees of hockey) while
Dominik Hasek played on a sub par Buffalo team. In other words, it
was much harder for Dominik Hasek to put up outstanding stats then
Jaqces Plante because Hasek was on a far worse team. Haseks frequency
of winning this award is unparalleled in history, a 75% success rate,
a truly dominating achievement. Dominik Haseks Vezina wins came in
the 93-94,94-95,96-97,97-98,98-99,00-01 seasons. In 99-00 Hasek was
injured and only played 32 games, but in the games he played in, his
stats were better than any other goalie that year. However, no other
goalie in history has won two hart trophies, let alone consecutively.
Hasek won these two Hart trophies in the seasons of 96-97 and 97-98.
Over his 8 year carrier as a NHL goaltender, all of Haseks season and
playoff stats have been far better that his competition. Everybody
thinks of Patrick Roy as the most outstanding playoff performer, but
Hasek has outplayed him in every playoffs they have been in together,
meaning Hasek is the better playoff goalie and the better seasonal
goaltender. The best goaltender ever, Dominik Hasek
