SCOUTING REPORT: ROCHESTER AMERICANS @ PHILADELPHIA PHANTOMS
This will be the fourth meeting this season between the Amerks and the
defending Calder Cup Champions. In their most recent meeting, Philadelphia
handed Rochester a 4-2 loss, scoring two goals in the opening period. Domenic
Pittis and Matt Davidson earned the goals in the defeat for Rochester.
However, that was the Rochester team's only loss to the Phantoms this season
as they won both games back in December of 1998. At home, Randy Cunneyworth
and Domenic Pittis scored in the opening period to give Rochester and early
2-0 lead before Philly came back to cut the Amerks lead to one. Scott Nichol
and Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre scored in the second and third periods, repectively,
to lift the Americans to a 4-3 victory.
In their first meeting of the season, in Philadelphia, Dean Sylvester scored
twice in the first period to give Rochester a boost. Mike Harder's empty-
netter in the final period gave Rochester the 3-1 win. One fact that may hurt
Rochester this time around is the fact that their starting goaltender in all
three games, Marty Biron, is currently in Buffalo.
The teams meet tomorrow night, Tuesday, in Philadelphia for a 7:30 face-off.
Look for a game report to follow Wednesday!
Go Amerks!
