Hershey,PA: Rochester Americans 5, Hershey Bears 3
The Rochester Americans used a three-goal first period to continue their
greatness on the road in Hershey, Pennsylvania as they defeated the Bears by a
score of 5 to 3 Saturday, March 6. Denis Hamel opened the scoring with his
fourteenth of the season at 2:00 of the first. Assisting on the goal were
Erik Rassmussen and Steffon Walby. Hershey tied the game with a power-play
goal by Gaul at 14:27. Matt Davidson's 22nd of the season regained the lead
for Rochester at 17:05, with assistance from Craig Fisher and Domenic Pittis.
Jason Holland added to the lead at 19:12, scoring his third of the season on
the power-play. Earning assists on the conversion were Fisher and Pittis once
again.
Dean Sylvester made the score 4-1 Amerks at 7:00 of the second period; it
was Sylvester's 22 of the year and he was assisted by Darren VanOene and Mike
Harder. At 11:20 of the period, Alexei Tezikov instigated a brawl and was
served a major and a game misconduct penalty.
Hershey added to their total with another goal by Gaul at 7:45 of the
final period. Willsie put the Bears back into the game at 10:02 with the
Bears' second power-play conversion of the game, making the score 4-3. An
empty-net goal by Darren VanOene at 19:18 of the final period put the game
away. It was VanOene's eighth of the year, assisted by Jason Holland.
Tom Draper stopped 30 of 33 shots on goal, improving his record to 11-7-2
on the season. The Amerks converted 1 of 6 power-play opportunities.
Rochester completes the five-game road journey with a game in Philadelphia
tomorrow night, Monday before heading back to home ice to face the Albany
