Rochester traveled to Harrisburg, PA to face off against the Hershey Bears this past Saturday evening, October 19th and stumbled once again as the Bears defeated Rochster 4-1. Tom Askey started in goal for the Amerks in place of Ryan Miller, who while making big saves also continues to allow too many goals per game. Hershey scored 3 power-play goals and one short-handed goal to defeat Rochester in the contest.
Cail Mclean opened the scoring at 6:52 of the second period, assisted by Jordan Krestanovich and Charlie Stephens on the power-play to give the Bears the early lead. Two minutes later, Eric Bertrand notched a short-handed goal to put Hershey up 2-0, assisted on the score by Brian Willsie. The Bears' offensive attack continued in the 3rd period, as Riku Hahl scored Hershey's third goal of the game at 13:13, assisted by Eric Bertrand and Sylvain Deschatelets on another power-play. The Bears' fourth score came at 18:11, as Charlie Stephens scored an unassisted power-play goal.
Rochester's lone goal of the game came at 19:16 of the game, as Jason Botterill scored his third of the season, assisted by Norm Milley and Paul Gaustad. Rochester's special teams were 0-7 on the power-play and Askey stopped 35 of 39 shots on goal while Rochester's offense put 33 shots on goal.
Rochester will travel to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada this coming Wednesday, October 23 for the second meeting with the Bulldogs this season. Hamilton defeated the Amerks 3-1 at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester last Monday, October 14th. Rochester's record now stands at 0-3-1-1 with 2 points in the AHL's Western Conference Central Division, but trail the division lead by only 1 point.
