Are you ready for a GREAT season of AHL hockey? There have been many changes in
the offseason, ensuring that this season will be one to remember! The IHL has
left the development league fold, leaving six teams to move into the AHL's ranks
(Manitoba Moose, Milwaukee Admirals, Houston Aeros, Grand Rapids Griffins,
Chicago Wolves and Utah Grizzlies). Two expansion teams join the fray:
Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Manchester Monarchs (remember Carolina?). And
Kentucky is under new ownership and in a different region, now appearing as the
Cleveland Barons. Disappearing from the AHL are the Louisville Panthers.
Looking forward to it yet? More to come...the 2001-2002 Amerks schedule has
been released and will be mailed out shortly, along with new division
alignments, player signings and happenings from around the league. Yes indeed,
it's going to be an exciting year!
Go Amerks!
