The Rochester Americans traveled to Hamilton on Wednesday evening to take on
the Bulldogs, who quickly became a rival to Rochester a few years ago. The
Amerks took an early 1-0 lead on Norm Milley's seventh goal of the season at
1:51 of the opening period. Sasha Lakovic assisted on Rochester's only goal
of the game. In the third period, Hamilton tied the game at 11:12, then
scored the game winner on a deflected shot at 17:24. The Americans could not
get a tying goal in the remaining time to force OT, and went on to suffer the
loss. Mika Noronen stopped 23 of 25 Bulldog scoring opportunities and the
Rochester offense, coming off a bout of food poisoning earlier in the week,
put together 26 shots on goal, but were unable to convert any of their four
power-play opportunities.
A recap of the Rochester/Norfolk game Thursday night will be available
shortly; Rochester is home again tonight to take on the Worcester Ice Cats,
currently the best team in the American Hockey League. Look for more to come
