July 25, 2000-CRAIG CHARRON RE-SIGNED BY ROCHESTER AMERICANS
"Sharky" is a member of the Rochester Americans hockey club once again.
Craig Charron, who has been a member of the Lowell Lock Monsters and
represented the St. John's Maple Leafs at the 2000 AHL All-Star Classic in
Rochester last season, is returning "home," and couldn't be happier.
Charron's signing is in the form of a two year contract, with the option for
a third, and possible financial terms equate to between $75 and 90,000 per
season. He is expected to replace the departed Domenic Pittis at center.
Charron has been in the minor leagues for over a decade, and was the Amerks
MVP of the Calder Cup year 1995-96 as well as in 1997-98. During his three
seasons in the red, white and blue, Charron scored 92 goals and added 146
assists to corral 238 points in 219 games.
In other transaction news, the Amerks are close to re-signing wing Joe Murpy
and the Buffalo Sabres are also eager to bring back Chris Taylor, who proved
he could play both ways for the Amerks last season.
